Sheffield Wednesday 'interested' in Gary Megson

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/9386999.stm

Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has said he would be interested in appointing Gary Megson as the Owls' new manager.
Wednesday parted company with Alan Irvine on Thursday, while boyhood Owls fan Megson has previously worked under Mandaric at Leicester City.
"I'm interested in Gary Megson. Whether he gets the job, that's different," Mandaric told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"He's top drawer and has tremendous experience. I rate Gary highly."
Former Owls midfielder Megson, 51, was appointed Leicester boss by Mandaric in September 2007.
But he left the Walker's Stadium after only six weeks to take charge of Premier League side Bolton Wanderers.
The former Norwich, Stoke and West Bromwich Albion boss, has been out of work since leaving the Reebok Stadium in December 2009.
But Megson, whose father Don also played for the Owls, still lives close to Sheffield.

"He's worked in the Premier League and the Championship and taken teams up," added Mandaric. "And he has worked in a lot of difficult circumstances.
"I haven't said that he will be our next manager.
"Right now we are looking at four people, but that may go down to two."
Irvine left Hillsborough with Wednesday, who were relegated from the Championship last season, lying 12th in League One, with eight points separating them from both the play-off and relegation places.
"You have to make a change," said Mandaric. "We just couldn't justify this, not for me, but for the whole club.
"We had a good man, who worked very hard, but things were not going in the right direction. You can't do anything else but make the change.
"We want to bring in the proper guy who will stop the results we've been having and turn us around."

What he wants to hire Megson after last time when he lasted a measly couple of months at Leicester before joining for Bolton?

I think in the situation, the Owls find themselves in, Megson may well be an answer...............serious...........over the years, they have hardly been a side to credit for fast flowing pasing football. Up and under, the ball screaming blue murder as it comes down covered in snow has suited them in the past.

Like Bolton, although their fans would not admit to it, Megson suited their boring dross type style of football AND this saved them from relegation.........I do expect Megson to do likewise, if appointed for the Owls

Bolton don't play boring dross football this season AND this has saved them from relegation, So I think your point is kind of mute. A competant manager will get a team playing how he wishes them to play just like Coyle has done at Bolton since the ginger one left....

let's just hope there are no dark forces in action at the Owls, Like there was at Forest and Bolton :)

I do not think you will find Bolton Wanderers were celebrated for their free flowing style of football under Alladyce ?, hence under Megson, it was an extension of that particualr style of game.

Under Coyle they seem to have undergone a style or type of change of direction, which can only be positive for their fans and viewing neutral fans. I hope they and all clubs , see this fashion/style as the way forward.

Was there any dark forces at Leicester? Or didn't he stay long enough for them to follow him? lol

I would be surprised if Mandaric hires him after that, he was bitching about it for some weeks afterwards if I remember correctly.

Maybe Mandaric wants to hire him on a rolling six week contract.

megson was shit for our football but he cleaned up behind the scenes. he'll never be remembered fondly at the city ground and we did regress as a footballing side, but he brought in some players who would be behind our revival; ian breckin, sammy clingan and nicky southall for example. he was never going to be a success with us on the pitch, but i wouldn't say he was the worst thing that ever happened to nottingham forest. that was the rot kinnear put in place, plus lack of investment after the playoff failure under hart.

and platt.
