Re: Douglas Freedman Esq

A quick look at the topic and there was a frisson of excitement here as I thought it said 'Douglas Fairbanks Jnr' and then the thought, "How did I miss his debut?".

Re: Douglas Freedman Esq

He knew what he was walking into.

And despite knowing what he was letting himself in for he'd negotiated his terms of appointment whilst another guy was in the hot seat.

Absolutely no sympathy for him whatsoever. He got what he wanted and deserved.

My personal nadir as a fan was his period as manager. I genuinely stopped caring.

So apparently Fawaz loved the club so much he couldn't be bothered to get out of bed before 3pm to run it

Re: Douglas Freedman Esq

Proper shit-show under him despite the limitations.

There were bigger shit-shows but at least they weren't for as long period of time as the Fraudster's.

When the only memorable highlight of a manager's career is a 0-0 draw at home to Charlton, that says it all.

Was treated appallingly by Fawaz, as most managers were.

Under someone like Marinakis, I have no doubt he would have done much better. I felt he stabilised the club for a short while and even went on decent runs of results considering his primary focus was on balancing the books and getting rid of bad apples/deadwood.

His tactics were actually not far off Lamouchi's but he had the impossible job of taking over after Stuart Pearce at a time when fans began to bitterly turn on each other with extremely angry and emotional diatribes, and some fans simply viewed Freedman as nothing more than an opportunist.

What a horrible and regrettable time that was. I really felt for Freedman as it looked like he put everything into the job. I just hope his mental health is okay.

Yeah but it's all ok because Fawaz loved the club and his heart was in the right place

I knew from the start with him, but you have to give people benefit of the doubt don't you? Especially when you almost force yourself to want them to do well for the sake of the club.

My gut instinct was always bad with him though. When I knew about him trying to buy QPR before, and then making grand statements such as we were the only ones for him.

Then the bullshit he would churn out about the history of the club and doing things for the fans. He always just seemed false. Everything about him. Mr. Appeasement in public. Wolf behind closed doors.

Big mistake to jump Pearces position in the manner he did, no coming back from that really. Definitely his own bloke Dougie, I remember his apparent sneering at the previous regime when things went well at the start, then digging out youngsters to make a point & his repetitive embargo excuses.

He may have a similar tactical style to Lamouchi, but he didn't execute it with anywhere near the success or the integrity.

Never took to the bloke personally.

The man was a disaster for Forest and very nearly relegated us. I'm sick of reading "he was a Forest fan" and "his heart was in the right place". The man was utterly incompetent and I'd be willing to bet people wouldn't look in any way favourably on him if we'd gone down that season and were still trying to get out of League One.

I am only thankful that the incompetent clown will never have any dealings with our club ever again.

If there's a Play-Off semi-final at the City Ground there's got to be at least some chance Lamouchi will attract more 'cardies' than Dougie did humans.
