Does anyone remember League 1 Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

We could start a game of Derby County bingo for the season, with things we expect to happen. I'll start with:
Supporters leaving PP before half time.
Supporter throwing season ticket at manager/onto pitch.
Start a match without the full complement of substitutes.
Team bus spotted at Little Chef on the road to an away game.
Midweek away attendance of <100.
Village idiot supporter on East Midlands Today telling everyone how they will win the league.
Sign blatantly overweight out of contract player after the transfer deadline.
Embarrassing defeat at lower league shithole live on Sky.
Drawn away to pub side in FA Cup 1st round.

Any more?

On SSN Andy Hinchcliffe reckons Derby are a shoe-in for promotion this season.
Hinchcliffe is a card, he should be on a stage, comic or clown he’d fit in……

I hope every pundit, ex footballer, Uncle Tom Cobley and all keep biggin them up, it will make each of the 46 league games even more of a cup final for their opponents.

Spot on there bonfire, let 'em keep inflating their Billy Bollocks. The bigger the bollocks, the more someone will want to bring 'em back down to earth.

Most of the pundits just lazily tip the so called big clubs in each league for promotion, without putting any real thought into it.

I remember when Sunderland got relegated from the Premier League a few years ago and they were tipped to go back up, despite the club being in a right state. They ended up getting relegated to League One instead.

I find myself questioning what I know to be facts,

their squad is a miss mash of wants and has beens,

52 game minimum season, that yakka for a seasoned squad battle ready, Derby are miles off

and every f@cker wants a piece of em for different reasons,

embargoes still so plugging holes will be a problem,

the good ship Derby sets sail on Saturday and the forecast is horrific,

one thing I do know to be fact I’m tuning into everyone of their games for a good f@ckin laugh providing the Famous aren’t playing at the same time.

up the “U’s” for starters

I've just had a wander down the front and there were a few mooching about with their shirts on. Must be on their hols or got washed up with last night's tide.

A 3 figure home attendance in the Tinpot Trophy would be a thing of beauty, more so if it was also live on TV.

Confirmation in Percy's latest article that Derby have agreed a deal with the HMRC that means that they won't be paying the full amount (doesn't say how much they actually are paying though).

Should have been made to pay back every penny IMO.
Well if that is the case another relegation this season would serve them right,

I’m not up to speed fully with HMRC but if the man in the street owes them a quid can you cut a deal? or is football one of those sectors where all bets are off?

Seems like it. Now that the precedent has been set, you can bet that more clubs in administration will "do a Derby" and get a reduction on the tax they owe now.

The HMRC have failed the taxpayer massively here and are going to lose millions to badly run football clubs for years to come.

Yes, many individual CVAs do just that.

Funny Ash as I had very similar thoughts regarding other clubs, they’ll sit tight and watch with interest if they owe a few bob and make a decision before HMRC draw a line in the sand,

I imagine legally HMRC would struggle to make a claim stick as clubs could rightly turn around and say we’ll have what Derby got as an agreement.

It’s poor at best, and frankly annoying.

The problem for HMRC - and we did debate a few hundred pages back - is that if they insisted on full payment even over several years it could actually mean the business wasn't viable. So in the end, HMRC would end up getting somewhere between nothing and less than the deal.

For those who wanted Derby to get liquidated, HMRC would have got a smaller amount if any at all.

I'm presuming the Derby/HMRC deal is transparent to the EFL ?
So, if they had any nuts, they should automatically have a 9pt deduction ready and waiting for "failing the general public" ?

All while tax funded public services such as the NHS continue to struggle as well.

This is going to have huge implications going forwards. At best it is extremely short sighted; yes they might get more now with this deal they’ve struck with Derby, but they are going to lose a lot more going forwards.

I would argue that the HMRC demanding full payment (even if it was over a longer period of time via some sort of payment plan) is better than settling for anything less, even if it risked the HMRC getting nothing.

They are going to lose a lot more than what Derby owed going forwards as a result of this, as Derby certainly won't be the last club to do this now that a precedent has been set.

I'd say the same if it was any other club (Forest included) doing this. Taxpayers money shouldn't be used to prop up failing football clubs.
