Could be nonsense with it being football insider but Pete O'Rourke is one of their better reporters so might be true:

Pete O'Rourke isn't that reliable these days since joining Wayne Veysey and co at Football Insider IMO.

First Team Squad
Even if it is true, seems like one for the future who would get loaned out for a season to play frequent first-team football.

Yes, reading about him he doesn't feel like someone who would be close to having an impact at this level yet.

Same sort of player as Johnson according to FM. Forward/winger combo with a lot of pace.

Like I said the other day we need a fresh batch of u21s to supplement the 25 man squad, assuming this rumour is true (which granted it probably isn't, although I feel like it'd be a very left-field name for O'Rourke to pull out of nowhere which makes me think there's probably some truth in it) why can't he be one of them? There's talk that EM admired and wants us to be more like Brighton, well this is exactly the kind of thing they do; I know he was more known as a wonderkid but not many people would've expected Julio Enciso to come in after playing 55 games in the Paraguayan league and have an impact on the Prem at such a young age but he did, same with Facundo Buonanotte having only played 30 odd games in Argentina but he has as well.

If we do get Iheanacho why not have this kid as 4th option? I'd much rather see us do a low risk potentially high reward deal like this than I would a signing like Chris Wood. Just got to trust/hope our scouting and data analytics team have found a gem.

Would the DUP insist on calling him Londonderry Scherhant?

Would being stuck as 4th choice here actually be any good for his development though? Not against bringing this lad in as one for the future, but if we did sign him he'd probably benefit a lot more from a season long loan somewhere than getting very little football here.

I get what you mean, it's a balancing act at the end of the day, you want young players getting plenty of first team football but at the same time I think if you're identifying a player at 19/20 you've got to do so with the idea that they will be ready to contribute a bit either straight away if they're especially good (but it's likely a big team would pick that player off way before we get a chance) or after 6 months or so training with the first team and keeping match fitness in u21 matches. Like I say it's a gamble no matter how good your scouting and data is but at £2m it's so low risk/high reward that it's worth doing imo. If he thrives he's worthy of a squad place when he's over 21 and/or we sell for huge profit. If he fails it's "only" £2m and a few grand a week down the pan and even then if he's still under 23/24 a team in Germany would probably take a punt on him and we get a bit of cash back.

There may or may not have been a thread on him on this very forum before he joined Brighton...

Agree with you Heff, seems too random to be nonsense. A little like horndog jizzkamp last year. Could be a remnant of the Syrianos era as well. I feel like that group were the people to keep if we wanted to be like brighton, though admittedly I don't know how data driven Ross is.
