Derby's first match

Okay so now the season's underway all the crowing we (myself included) have done about how our signings are so much better can stop, and we can see for real whether we were right or not.

I notice Mr. Buxton started for Derby. Very surprised when they signed him, never mind put him in the first team. However on the evidence of the highlights from BBC he had a solid game and even popped up with an assist with a brilliant header. Also Deeney was on the bench, so presumably he's now signed on as their number 2. Another bizarre signing on paper.

Still very, very early days but perhaps Cloughie's 'tight squad, bring in my mates who I trust' policy will pay dividends?

Also I notice there was 33,000 there. Say what you like about cheap tickets etc, you've got to admit that's still a hell of a turn out against Peterborough.

Good result for 'em and I thought the same as you regarding Buxton when I saw the highlights, a good result.

Reports suggesting Posh had some good spells though and could be considered unfortunate to have not held on for a deserved draw. It's too early to be drawing any conclusions about anything really, though, isn't it? Looking at our respective fixtures it wouldn't surprise me to see Derby remain ahead of us in points for a few games yet.

Oh yeh, totally too early, just getting the ball rolling. I actually really like Peterborough as they're clearly a footballing side, but having said that they're clearly gonna come up against much sterner tests in Newcastle's, and our, strikeforces amongst others and here's hoping they come horribly unstuck. Bywater had a howler too which was a real treat as he is a tool.

Why can't we get a nice 28k-ish attendance on Saturday. Lets make it a carnival atmosphere start to which could be a fantastic season. Not getting ahead of myself here but why can't we do what Derby fans do? Yes Derby might have special offers, i.e. all students half price etc but, lets go one better and get a high average attendance of around 27k without those special offers! Lets support the team!

Buxton got man of the match from the local radio (BBC Derby)

Deeney is no.3, I think they just haven't signed there no.2 yet (Frank Fielding). Carroll will then be no.4

Buxton didn't look out of place at all, won most of his headers even though he isn't that tall for a centre back, think Barker's got a battle on his hands to get in the side.

I thought the idea with Deeney was to be able to send the actual No. 2 out on loan, much like Citeh have done with Joe Hart.

I've often wondered why it's not a more popular thing to do; 3 'Keepers, 1st choice, obviously your starter, 2nd choice, send out on loan to get first team football, and 3rd choice regularly on the bench.

Because if everyone did that, no-one would need to loan a Keeper?
