Derby game moved

When's Mothers Day?

Exactly. The Sunday the day after the original ko time I presume.

I guess this game has suddenly become a more interesting prospect.

Yes, they really should ringfence the fixtures about 8 weeks prior to avoid screwing up folks travel arrangements especially regarding train fares.

This is exactly what happens in a certain European country of my acquaintance that has a major domestic league.

Two weeks ago I got my ticket for the home game of VfB against RB Leipzig on March 11th. That game has been moved to the Sunday (and was announced as such at the beginning of January). The rules state a minimum of eight weeks. Some fixtures were even announced last year, owing to the German winter break.

There is going to some upset mums, being knocked up at 7.30am sons trusting flowers and a card into their hands shouting "can't stop" as you run back up the path...

Annoyed that another Derby game has been moved from a Saturday however at least its got a reasonable kick off time off 2.30 so can have a decent few hours in the pub before hand without feeling embarrassed about drinking at 9 o clock in the morning LOL

Although love how Police/safety concerns go out the window when Sky come sniffing about as that was the reason given for moving it to 1pm when the fixtures originally came out, now its virtually a 3pm kick-off again so on that note thankyou sky

I couldn't believe they had the Sheffield derby on Friday night.

Sky (and of course BT) splatter the games all over the weekend at preset times (1245 and 1730 on Saturday, and again on Sunday, plus midweek, plus Friday.

It’s no wonder supporters struggle to keep track.

I tend to think having two separate broadcasters doesn’t help matters either.

I was genuinely surprised when I saw that, as that is a fixture especially when its played at United with its close proximity to the City Centre that is a bit of a throwback to the 1980s

About three years ago Leeds played away at Sheff Wed on a Friday night for Sky. I couldn't believe it was allowed to happen and was texting my mate - a Wednesday fan - predicting a riot. It was that game where someone ran on and approached Kirkland and my mate said there was scrapping everywhere, massive drunken groups all over and a nasty atmosphere. Yet other games the policing is over zealous beyond belief for games that are clearly much less risky than the Sheffield derby and Leeds v Wednesday.

Meh.

Bored of this fixture anyway.

I don't look forward to it like I used to Bryn. However over the last few seasons when so many games are pedestrian and I don't seem to care much if we win or lose, if we score I go through the motions a bit etc.. This game creeps up on me and I get genuinely nervous on the morning. And if we score or win or concede a free kick or get a player booked I am uncontrollable and my anger / excitement / anguish spills over. No other game in a mid table season can do that on tap.

Hows is this SKYs fault? They were offered the chance by the football league the chance to do this in exchange for money, so I would blame them and not the TV companies who have allowed it happen.

Aye, can understand that mate, any match that can get you feeling a bit more tuned into a game is refreshing from the normal drudgery.

I understand what you mean mate.

A big part of it for me was the atmosphere and winding them up. A lot of that has gone now, down to both teams being average for years. Might be my age as well, when you glance over the segregation line and see a bunch of kids in CP Company jackets you feel a bit of an old twat winding them up.
Take the rivalry out and the game is nothing more than a dull affair.
