Demise of Everton

Fair play to Everton done a cracking job at staying up this year, if I were then I'd consider admin this season if it's a possibility. 9 points off when you're already safe is better than -9 next year.
Isn't there a clause in the rules that says "after a certain date, or if -9 makes no difference to the division you're in next season then it gets appled next season"?

Dunno, the prem would probably have to ask the big 6 and ask them what they think they should do before making a decision.

I know there was in the championship

Be quite funny if Everton had -17 points this season and still stayed up.

Let's be honest, this has been an awful Premier league, it could be realistic that under 30 points is the safety target.

I didn’t realise they don’t move grounds until the season after next. I think as a club they are just hanging on to that.

If they do go into to admin then there will be a huge fire sale as creditors try to claw some money back.

They could well sell lots of players below market value and still fall foul of FFP......

I mentioned Garner for us earlier and that was my thinking... There's a few of that midfield I'd take in fairness - Doucoure and Gueye too!

Everton have withdrawn their appeal against the PSR penalty..

Makes you wonder if theres other issues at play.

More so that they're safe and so don't need the two points back.

Everton have withdrawn their appeal against a two-point deduction for breaching Premier League financial rules.

The Toffees were docked two points after an independent commission found the club had breached profit and sustainability rules (PSR) by £16.6m for the three-year period to 2022-23.

The appeal was due to take place next week with a verdict announced before the final game of the season against Arsenal on 19 May.

The Toffees had a 10-point deduction reduced to six on appeal in February for PSR breaches in the three-year period to 2021-22.

Successive home wins over Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Brentford last month secured Everton's Premier League safety.

Points = position= £££££££££££

Why wouldn't you try for some points back?

This should be said in a Bruce Forsyth voice.

Perhaps Everton can't afford a decent lawyer. Perhaps all the lawyers in Scouseland are booked up (heaven knows why).

They are six points behind Palace and seven behind Fulham, with a worse goal difference. Maybe they figure they can’t catch either one, even with two points back?

But it would put 3 points difference between them and Brentford who are a place below though.

My mind is going towards the 777 fiasco and having an agreement in place to be more lenient if they withdraw the appeal.

They also have an outstanding dispute about £6m or so they’ve deducted from the accounts or something right?

Theres more stuff coming, keep losing track of it all.

In other news, 777, who were bidding for Everton, have called in 'restructuring experts',

Well, theres the large amount of money they've 'borrowed' from 777, then another £200m from MSD and a couple of wealthy Everton fans..
A lot depends on what happens with 777

Robertson

Geoff Thomas
Yeah - my understanding is basically that 777 don't have the money to complete the takeover, while at the same time Everton owe them £200m they don't have. Everyone is screwed.
