Demise of Everton

It could be a master stroke. Scramble together 18 0-0’s. 33 points would give them a sniff of a chance.
"Thought we started bright but we were up against a really good, well organised team. We conceded poor goals. We desperately need a clean sheet but we aren't showing enough. That's why we have to put ourselves in a position where we can't concede. We're in a bad run but we've got to show more"

The Chris Hughton special. In a nutshell.

People scoff and give Mike Ashley pelters about his ownership but he ran Newcastle frugally and kept them stable financially. So much so that he was able to complete what turns out to be an excellent sale for Newcastle and it's fortunes. Contrast that to the clusterfuck Moshri and co have managed thrown at Everton

I'd rather have a local Del Boy over a far east businessman. At least you have some idea about the dodgy you're involved with.

The whole Ashley thing was media rubbish. Objectively he was fine but it made sense for the media to stoke the fires and the geordies were silly enough to add to it.

I cannot fathom how Everton even survive financially in the Championship, never mind thinking about how on earth Moshri is going to sell that club.

For all Mike Ashley's faults, at least Newcastle were stable under his ownership and still an appealing prospect to buy. Everton may well be unsellable in the Championship with their problems, and who knows what will happen from there.

I think for Everton to survive this season two things need to happen.
Firstly appoint Sean Dyche who I can see as someone to stabilise them short term.
Secondly it’s asking a lot to get anything at home to Arsenal in their next game but if they could somehow beat a stuttering Liverpool after that it could just lift them out of their slump.

I can see a Derby situation with the new stadium arising too. It'll end up being sold by him to a venture capital firm and leased back and we all know where the path leads to when you end up not owning your own stadium.

If they go down, they are f**ked. Proper f**ked.

the left it too late , any new manager would struggle to get the players they would need and they are struggling to appoint said manager. Won't be surprise if Sam Allardyce end up being back as their manager till the end of the season.

How would you feel about a Greek businessman?
yeah, but „Big Evangelos“ looks like He’d sink a few pints and then have a Kebap, so we can consider him honorary British.

In fairness as well Moshiri has put his money where his mouth his. He just employed the wrong people. That happens its football! I dont think Moshiri is nefarious and he dosent deserve personal abuse. Ashley and Moshiri are nowhere near the levels of Mel Morris for example. Who genuinley tried to cut corners and take risks.

I think Everton fans are probably even more emotional because Moshiri in fact has done what us fans ask of owners and put his money where his mouth is. As I said its frustrating watching from a club that has been roobish for 23 years to see other clubs with owners who arent nefarious getting pelted because their club is roobish now. This is football sometimes you dont make the right chaoices transfer wise and you get relegated. Its happened to Leeds, West Ham, Newcastle, Forest, Sunderland all clubs in Evertons catergory.

While he might have not gone as far as to rip off the taxpayer, local businesses and charities like Mel did (at least not yet, anyway), Moshiri has put Everton into a position where they are in deep, deep shit if they go down. Unless there is a buyer out there who is willing to pour hundreds of millions into a Championship club, they are at serious risk if they go down. He most certainly has been taking risks, and lots of them.

They're in deep shit. Deep, deep, deep shit.

Owner wants out, unrealistic price tag on an asset which is debt laden and on the verge of losing 50% of it's revenue. Instructed Deloitte to oversee the sale, no one really running the football element of the club either now Lampard's gone - literally no leadership at any level. Players going AWOL, potential managers deciding maybe it's not in their interest to take the job.

It doesn't take a stretch of the imagination that they might end up doing a Portsmouth.
Totally this.

Folk hoping for a new manager bounce may get a game or two, but the club is a total mess and clubs in that position rarely stay up. They'll be lucky to halt their decline at the Championship

I think they'll be lucky to halt their decline in League One if they go down, ending up like Sunderland would be a good result under the circumstances.

Bar a billionaire saviour coming in and generously wanting to pour hundreds of millions into the club, a Portsmouth or Coventry situation feels most likely. And the worst case scenario could see the club go altogether.

Indeed-but Arsenal easily hold the consecutive record.
Incidentally,Forest drew both games 3-3 with Everton in the 2nd Division in 1953/54.
I certainly remember them being in the second division. We had a house on Melbury Road in Woodthorpe and had come back from Germany to check on it; we had rented it out and the tenants had moved on and Dad wanted to see what things were like. It was in a terrible condition, tenants had left it like a shit heap. Anyway, there was a lot of open ground around the area in those days and on the door of an old shack down the road someone used to stick upcoming fixtures for Notts games and I vividly remember seeing Everton on there and being surprised as I thought they were in the top division. I had been to see Forest when we lived in Nottingham and still looked for their results, but was not yet a real fan of the team. Just interested in football, it was all new to me.

The gossip on the street for a long while is Moshiri isn't even the owner, his comment after the game the other day when he said "not my decision" on Lampard getting sacked probably backs it up

Apparently the real ower is Usmanov who owned over 30% of Arsenal at one point, but sold his shares a few months after he invested a load into Everton as a "sponsorship". Moshiri was also his accountant.

Dyche will manage them in the week the Stone Roses tribute is playing in Liverpool.
