Dele Alli (BUPA, just speculating)

I would almost be tempted to give him a chance here. That interview has shown he's accepting the issues he has and that's a heck of a mature thing to do.

A Stevie Cooper arm around the shoulder and coming into a great squad atmosphere like ours?

I don't know why, it just feel like a real Cooper move.

What do you reckon?

It wouldn't feel like a Cooper move, it would be an egotistical Marinakis Jr one and it would just be another Shelvey imo

I haven't watched the interview yet but he just seems to have had it with football, it's a massive shame because he was some talent but I don't think there's much anyone can do for him. 25 man squad means we can't afford charity, even if he was on a pay as you play.

I'll admit to being clouded by just how good he was a few years back.

But if he got back to 70% of his best, he'd be a tremendous asset.

Agreed that the squad limits make it more of a risk.

Similar historical issue as Kieron Dyer with being sexually abused by a family member at a young age. Knowing their past ordeals as youngsters it's no wonder they both went off the rails mentally at some point.

Both were ticking time bombs having gone through traumas alone which are one of the worst imaginable nightmares that anyone could suffer.

I feel for the lad and I hope that people get off his case now and just allow him to do what he feels is the best thing for his well-being.

You can't help but draw some comparisons to that of Jesse before he joined us. As the situation stands if Dele is wanting to continue and revive his career he couldn't ask for a better environment of care and togetherness.

The whole situation about him chokes me up to be honest

Feel really sorry for the lad, I couldn't imagine what it was like having to endure the things that he did, nor can I imagine the effect it could have had on his mental health.

Unfortunately, as Heffing Psycho! says, we aren't really in a position where we could offer him a place within our 25 man squad to give him a chance.

I do hope he finds somewhere where he can get both his career and life back on track though.

Could you imagine him coming out for his first appearance and the whole city ground rising up to show him he's a red now no matter his past. Could unlock some love for the game, club and fans. I don't know I'm in Lanzarote and had an edible.

I don't know mate, I'd stay off the Internet and enjoy your trip.

Go find a Cicada to listen to.

The lad needs to retire and sort out his demons. His past trauma and the public spectacle that is football are a mix that leads to suicide sadly. I hope he can sort his head out (easier said than done), and continue playing football, but I can't see it tbh it's hard enough for a "normal" person to get over those traumas never mind someone so in the public eye as Alli.

Look at the way Lingards treated just for dancing a little on tiktok.

I have less than zero interest in bringing him here. His personal trauma does not take away from the fact he is crap and has a poor attitude towards football.

No thanks, I doubt he will ever do anything of note at the highest level again, maybe not at any level.

He was an awesome player but these underlying issues have clearly had a profound effect and it remains to be seen whether it's salvageable.

I'm certain everyone would wish him all the very best for the future, but that's not the same thing as signing him.

I wish him well but he’s not for us.

On the verge of being a world class player at one point. Hopefully, for his sake, he can approximate his old form. That Spurs side was something special.

People often see the interviews like that and think that because the person is confronting the issue, they’ve overcome it.

The stuff Dele has been through, I suspect he’ll never play football again. If he does, it will be a monumental effort.

I always thought Dele Alli sounded dull and looked disinterested in interviews. Or that he was shy and didn't enjoy public speaking.

Looking back on it now, he was probably numb and shut himself down around people he didn't trust, such as the media. Being on the pitch was most likely an escape, until football and all the attention that came with it ultimately became too much to deal with on top of keeping his personal troubles hidden deep inside.

He came across a lot better in that interview today and it always endears you to someone when they open up and share their experiences, because then you can actually try to understand them, rather than them holding it inside and nobody knows what's going on.

Having said all of that, being brutally honest I don't think Forest can be a charity case anymore. Dele's only 3 weeks out of rehab and he's already got a good guy and good man manager at Everton so let's see if Dyche can do anything with Dele first.

Couldn't disagree more, I think Cooper would relish working with someone like Dele and I think Dele would relish working with someone like Cooper.
