No I agree. His explanation seems plausible to me. Just very unfortunate.Why the f*** would he randomly do a Hitler salute surrounded by multiple ethnicities.

If he did it then it doesn’t automatically make him evil. I don’t for one minute think he’s a nazi, and he probably didn’t even think too much about it. I bet he’s well up to speed now and wouldn’t dream of doing anything like it again. Probably the biggest wake up call of his life.

I was at a Forest home game and a bloke in the row in front stood up and shouted a racist term at an opposing player who was taking a throw in, oblivious to the black fans who were sitting near to him. It nearly all kicked off.

I mean that really is just idiotic and purposely offensive. I think Hennessy probably did it without thinking what it means and without wanting to be offensive, rather that it was a silly action to perform for a photo. Like I say, he’s probably learned a lot from it.

There was a case here recently (well, next door in Bayern) where some England fans prior to the Germany-England Nations League Match, decided that as well as letting off fireworks in their hotel room, they would parade around outside the hotel doing the Nazi salute.

I mean, if there is one Lände you would not do that in, it’s Bayern.

Suffice to say, the Polizei got involved and it will not end well for them.

I think this is probably right. I have no doubt he did it but I wouldn't have him down as a racist.

That sort of stuff beggars belief really. We can all be a bit silly and naive at times but you’ve got to be a proper scummer to behave like that. It also doesn’t represent football fans, it represents idiots.

In the past when I mentioned to people in the UK my grandmother was German, most typically they would reply: 'NAZI!!'

To be fair, it doesn't happen much nowadays but it was always a response that became so non-funny and tiresome.

Fair enough. Wasn't defending him just pointing out how quickly witch hunts can start for fairly innocuous things. Especially pics from a bad angle. If the guy taking was German then it's potentially exactly what it looks like.
