Darlow and Lascelles targeted

Fawaz is such an optimist

(same story is on the Sky Sports site too)

"But we did not. We took the money so that we could buy more players for the club, so that we could make us stronger. We kept Darlow and Lascelles for the season and, with that money from Newcastle, we invested in the team.

"We brought Assombalonga, Michail Antonio, Matty Fryatt, Michael Mancienne, Robert Tesche, Jack Hunt – and probably others I have forgotten.

"All these players are good players and all are good for Nottingham. That is why we are doing well; that is why the manger is happy.

"Maybe next season we will sign them again, maybe we will even buy them back.

"In the future, you never know. If we go into the Premier League, perhaps we can talk with Newcastle. We can perhaps loan the players again or even buy them back. Alternatively, we will buy other players."

Nice idea, but can't see it happening in a million years, if Newcastle go down, the last players they'll want to sell will be the two talented young English lads who've got experience at this level and will be earning much less than the 'bigger names' who will probably want out.

Also, I don't think it's the smartest thing to say in public. Fawaz's exciting side getting a little carried away again. Although I can happily handle that for all the good he's done.

I know what you mean. I reckon if I was an owner, I would be like Fawaz, an overexcited kid with real life champ man game!

Just imagine how the 2 players would feel if we did go up and Newcastle were relegated. Everyone partying and planning for the big boys and they'd possibly be going to Brentford and Bournemouth again.

I don't think it's that far fetched an idea. If we go up and they are settled/happy, then why would they move? One things for sure, it looks unlikely the manager who signed them will be there, the new chap might not even rate them.

Is it sacrilege to suggest that if we did go up we'd be able to afford two players who are better than Darlow and Lascelles? Because that's what I honestly think will happen.
Although it doesn't excuse letting them go for just the modest fee they went for.

Darlow yes, Lascelles no. I think we'll regret letting Jamaal go in years to come

Good deal after 5 games...

A little more uncomfortable after 11...

We'll see after a full season

Asbo + Antonio = 13 goals + 6 assists in 11 games

Of course it was worth it. Especially when you look at how poorly Darlow + Lascelles played on Sunday

I don't disagree, I think it was good right now.

However ask me again if we are in the Championship next season without Darlow (and Lascelles)and Assombalonga sold to a lower prem side... hmmm

I don't think we'll miss them to be honest. Darlow is easily replaceable and hopefully Laing will fill Lascelles shoes.

Britt ain't leaving here for less than 20m

I'm probably going to get slated here but that is why he is not in the starting line up on a regular basis and if everyone was fit he'd be fourth choice. He jumped in too much then and whilst it might only be training it's still what helps select you for a game.

Eh? Lascelles was fine!

He looked shaky to me, like the Lascelles that played with Collins. Maybe he's only decent next to Hobbs, or maybe I'm just being harsh, I dunno. Their second goal was embarrassing defending from all of our defenders though, they were just stood about like plebs. I don't like to moan, but just sayin'
