Danny Collins

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
Anybody wonder if Danny Collins had a cheeky tenner on Ulloa to score?

He gave him the freedom of the City Ground in the first few minutes and just watched him score Brightons second!!

He got smashed for pace today but hes been ok for us, not ground breaking, not great, but hes slotted in to cover when needed

Who's going to want him though with one year on his contract? Would be like trying to flog Greening to someone last Summer. Was all for him going last weekend after Bournemouth when he tried his kamikaze trick of not communicating with his goalkeeper. Suppose he is good enough 4th choice but should only be a last resort.

I don't think that he even knew that Ulloa was there. Blissful ineptitude. He already had his feet up on Skeggy beach

Collins was awful today, but like with Greening, it is difficult when your legs have gone. Fans can slaughter veterans as much as they like, but once it's gone, it's gone. The fact he's playing for a top half Championship team at 33 shows that he's had a good career with a track record. I'd save my bile for defenders like Jara in their prime who are a total liability

He's absolutely gash.

Boil him down for glue. We must have a CB in the youth team who is better than Collins. Weak, Positionally suspect and has the pace of a one-legged mule with the turning circle of a supertanker.

He's too old and the wages he gets for what we want him for is scandalous. We have to stop overrating our team that is killing us, and we don't need a 30 man squad. 23/24 if you put in 4 loans which are cheap and stick them in the youngsters we have 7 players there already. Get rid of all the out of contract players and sell a few like cox then we can easily fall within FFP if people say we can't sign big because of FFP then the reason we are doing so badly is because we're paying astronomical wages for very average backup players.

Fenton > Collins

Hope Fenton stands out like a saw thumb to Pearce, Wigley, Eastwick and Chetts if he comes back and whoever is on the staff in pre-season.

We chucked a few bob at Collins contract at Stoke for him to leave apparently too.

Quite embarrassing at times. I just wonder if he thinks he is better than he is or what ?

Todays goal had naff all to do with his legs. It's his head, and in particular his brain, that's the problem

there are not many players who would be 4th choice in the champ and just get on with it which he is, so credit there. If youth players are better then fair enough, but hes no way near as bad as people are making out.

There's a danger of getting personal when age is a massive factor. Teams have gone up with Collins in his prime. When your legs go it's a downward spiral of confidence as we saw with Greening. I am pretty sure today's mistakes were not arrogance, it's just Ulloa is too good for him. The same might happen to the likes of Hobbs at 33. It's nature.

It is probably how slow Collins turns in defence all the time that is sticking in 'nffps7' head.

It is an issue - but his number one flaw is that he plays well for 95% of a game, and then ruins it all with one colossal momentary lapse of concentration or awareness. He'd be a good addition for someone like Notts - he really should be plying his trade in the league below

You'd think that in all his years of experience he would've learnt the virtue of accountability

Couldn't agree with that any more. The errors are just so massive. Defending with him can't be easy as well. He can't inspire too much confidence.

Its a massive factor. Never doubted his effort. It happens to all footballers but at different ages and also depends on the position played. Collins doesn't have good positional sense or size to make up for his failing legs. Terry is a similar age and is slowly failing but is obviously a far better defender with very good positional sense and good strength. But his days at the top level are waining now.

I think that the day you start using your age as an excuse is the day you should retire. That's cold, but this is professional sport. Let the next generation come through

Terry was a class act at Forest at 19. He is surrounded in world class quality to make up for his pace. Collins isn't in that class and has Dan Harding for cover. I totally agree L1 is his standard now. But that because of age not a an attitude problem or lack of "accountability"
