The team that Warburton put out last season has absolutely no basis on which to base the one starting this season.
His first game was against Derby, then we saw ourselves in an eventual relegation fight due to the lack of confidence and 5 years' worth of shambolic ownership resulting in a manager tally bigger than Jason Lee's pinapple haircut.
Now the slate is wiped lean. We endured the dark time. Warburton will not be looking for his team to have the same qualities as the one he picked in April and May.
He will have learnt a lot about the squad. I am very confident that the coming season will be far more fruitful in terms of success. It's way too early to start panicking.
And, above all else, we will make genuine progress if the current manager gets more than one transfer window in which to impose his brand of footballing ethics.
