Even though it would be out of sequence in terms of FIFA's stated policy of spreading the tournament across the continents, it certainly wouldn't surprise me too.
If Saudi Arabia are chucking lots of money at their 2030 bid, that tells me that they must be reasonably confident of "finding a way around" that policy, unfortunately.

He made a huge mistake choosing to United rather than going to City (as was rumoured at the time IIRC). He'd have been able to end his career on a high note banging in the goals for City and adding to his honours list.

Can't say it would surprise me. If Qatar are able to buy a World Cup, then getting 2030 should be a piece of piss for Saudi Arabia.

He really did in hindsight, but I think the reason he didn't was because Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him not to tarnish his United reputation.
Had he moved to City, he'd have won the league with them, then cleared off to MLS for one last big payday and retired.
It seems now he's very much trying to prove himself all over again, like that he still 'has it'.

As far as I'm aware he can't go to the US anyway can he due to the alleged incident? (This is just my understanding not me passing it off as fact)

He's already ruining his legacy by acting like a child, most players age graciously and bow out before they end up playing in a Mickey Mouse league, Ronaldo still thinks he's the best player in the world.

Mickey Mouse, It's Mickey Mouse...

Looks like Ronaldos taken the easy option and is going to Al Nassr for 200m a year!

Ah that would make sense as to why he hasn't be linked to any MLS clubs at the moment.

If he's getting £200 million a week or whatever, it's no surprise he's not going MLS.

It now also makes sense of the extraordinary interview with Piers. No wonder he wanted out!

He's still a narcissistic, self-centred, obnoxious prick.

Everyone is talking about the tech in the ball - we should be talking about him knowingly claiming his team-mate's goal.

Wanker.

He never even claimed it. If he did he would have done his celebration that he does when he scores every single goal.

There might not be his trademark celebrations but for me he definitely celebrates as if it's his goal.

Arm aloft Shearer-style, running toward the corner flag where his teammates go to him. He'll have known he got nothing on it yet instead of going to the scorer Fernandes he has everyone running to him which tells you everything you need to know about the man.

Then add the fact that Portugal were reportedly going to present evidence to FIFA and it's clear he's claiming it even though its obvious he never touched it

All about him.

More egotistical behaviour last night. Goes to clap the Portugal fans alone. Then when the rest of the team comes over he leaves.

If they're not careful the circus surrounding Ronaldo that he partly creates hinself could derail their campaign. Hopefully it will and they go out to Morocco but it can't be helpful.

Allegedly refused to train with the squad players today and insisted on doing a gym recovery session with the starters instead

Bet the boggers at Virgin Active didn't kick him out like they did me when I took a prawn cocktail and some pate and crackers in to the spin class.

Get to do owt when you're loaded, it seems.

Sulked off at the end today when he knew he had been knocked out of the tournament. Not Portugal, him. No attempt made to be part of the team or congratulate the opposition. He’s becoming more of a tw@ each thing he does at the moment.

The relief that he's scalping another club and not ours.
