Hang on Hughtons actually said the lack of goals was an issue so why sign a striker with a awful goals to games ratio?.

If that’s the height the bar is being set, well.

It’s not going to end well, is it?

Akpom did reasonably well in Greece; he did not score much for PAOK (10 goals and 3 assists last year), but he was a constant threat for defences with his speed and strength. He would probably be better suited to a team that plays with two strikers upfront, unlike you.

Just when I've renewed my season ticket this sort of rumour starts. Happy days.

I thought he was toss when he was here before but thought, maybe he had improved... checked his stats and no. 14 in 54 is the only time (at PAOK) he's hit double figures for a club.

5 in 38 for Boro and 3 in 36 for Hull.

I know there's more to a striker's game than scoring goals (Heskey was a good example of this) but these only worked well alongside an actual goalscorer. I didn't ever think his link up play would be up to anything much either.

Can't see why he would even be adequate for us as cover and surprised Oly have even looked enough to be linked either.

He pretends to be a striker in the same manner as I pretend to be a priest when handing a biscuit to the dog and chanting „The Body of Christ!“

We do this over and over again, sign strikers that don't score goals, Do we think they will come good? Well they never do, how many strikers with a career record of 5 or 6 goals a season suddenly go on to become 15 to 20 goal strikers very very few i would imagine.

Either save the money and put some faith in our homegrown talent

Or take a chance on an upcoming lower league striker, there is more chance they will come good than the journeymen we are constantly linked with
