All these negative comments seem very similar to when we were linked with Keinan Davis 12 months ago
No one had really seen KD. So he was a bit of an unknown quantity.

Many of us have seen CW many times over the past decade.

I think he'll be alright here. Good finisher. His record alone shows that. Hasn't worked out at Newcastle but sometimes that happens with certain players at certain clubs. Style of play. Not quite feeling the vibe at the club or whatever.

Consistently reached double figures at Burnley who weren't always top half. Doesn't have the best ball control I've ever seen but I like someone who can finish with a first time shot rather than faffing about with the ball.

He's also a massive goal threat at corners, which is another area we could do with improving on.

I do struggle to see how he'll fit into our current, fast counter attacking style. There's no way he'd keep up with Brennan and get on the end of his crosses like Taiwo did.

Maybe more for bringing on if things aren't working.

Didn't stop people writing off KD.

I always find it best not to judge a player before he's put a Forest shirt on. You just never know who's going to fit right in.
Exactly that. Some players find a home or a happy place and they're like a different player.

The Stevie Cooper effect is the main thing for me. He will make Wood feel loved (get your jokes lined up now, lads)

If cooper wants him then I don't care. I haven't watched enough prem to understand his ability but his scoring record is pretty clear, his strong as f*** and pretty tall. Sounds like a good mix.

Noticed it was highlighted that Forest are in the top 3 in the Prem for percentage of goals scored from set pieces.

I remember Dennis scoring with a header from a free-kick against Villa.

Kouyate from a corner against Bournemouth.

Could you count the Awoniyi goal against Liverpool? Free-kick from MGW to Steve Cook who smashed the ball into the box.

Brentford last minute scrambled equaliser?

Aurier goal against Chelsea was another messy episode but he did the business.

I'm beginning to think it's all about MGW again. MGW to Wood. I want first time finishes from set pieces ;) Let's make it happen.

If u look at both goals on Sat it was the striker who had dropped deep-Surridge who played the progressive ball -and then MGW and Jonno sprinting pass him up field. Think Wood will be effective away from home, as we need to hold the ball and get up the pitch.

Nufc fan here. Posted after our game on the opening day and remember saying I thought yous would have a good chance of staying up if you could ride out the first couple months and let all the new players gel and settle in properly. Glad to see things have been going well for you recently!

Wood is a grafter, great attitude but unfortunately very little threat. His legs seem to have totally gone, it's unbelieve how slow and behind play he is. He's well liked up here but it was like playing with a passenger in attack in most of the games he's started. Was expecting a static target man when we signed him but his hold up play and heading have been some of the worst aspects of his game. He had a shambolic display in the cup when we lost to Sheff Wednesday and I think that was the last straw for a lot of our supporters. I'd say the vast majority are happy to never see him play for us again but still wish him well and appreciate his effort in hist time here. It's hard to be overly critical of someone who does give their all but just isn't good enough. I'd love it to turn out well both for him and you's and stranger things have happened in football so I wouldn't completely rule it out. Good luck for the relegation battle and in the cup, I'll be cheering yous on against Man U for the next two weeks.

I am beginning to realise never to doubt a player that the club and Cooper wants to sign.

Their reason behind it will be better than my reason against it.

Sounds like Michail Antonio before we signed him. I suppose we should look forward to seeing him at the City Ground?

On the other hand, Emmanuel Dennis came with many recommendations. Premier League proven in a struggling team.

Ultimately, you just don't know which players will click and which players won't.

Not a fan, but happy to be proved wrong and trust the club to make good level headed decisions.

Good short term option I think.

The way I like to measure it is to think what my reaction would be if Bournemouth, Everton, Southampton were signing him.

I think he will be an asset for any side towards to bottom of the table. This season that is us but I hope we have greater plans long term.

I can't see him playing the inside left channel though like Awonyi does. Wood is more of a central stricker right up against the opposition centre half. That would mean having to play MGW further wide, and he is nowhere near as influential in the game out wide compared to playing in the middle of the front 3. Wood is a good lower premier league forward, but would be concerned we might have to change formation or style to our detriment.

Interesting one this - if Wood is the only forward that comes in I'd be disappointed; in the same way I think Surridge doesn't fit our current system I'd say Wood doesn't either.

That said he does offer a different horses for courses style approach as a starter, and could certainly do a job from the bench in certain situations, more so than Surridge. He's kept his 1 in 3 record from starts this year too, with 2 goals in 6 games. At 31 suggestions legs have gone are hopefully the usual - how often do we hear that only to find out they haven't?

So yeah, loan to buy makes sense - I'm just sad Taiwo appears to be longer term and hope that we can add a left sided mobile/rapid type along with Wood. If so I think we'll have upgraded the squad (Wood>Surridge) as well as added an extra dimension/threat.

This is my concern too. Will it necessitate 4-2-3-1? I see more selection/formation headaches in trying to accommodate him, I'm afraid. But it's Cooper's call, and Cooper, as we have learned over the last 18 months, almost always knows best.

It would mean a tweak in formation playing a 4-2-3-1 rather than him playing the centre of a 3. Personally I think that formulation could work anyway
