Chanting for Cooper

Timothy Pope

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
There’s some saying that chanting for Cooper during Saturday’s match will undermine the new manager. I can get that, but I feel that we fans need to show our appreciation of what he’s done.

Can I suggest that on the 23rd minute, we as fans of NFFC do a “Stand Up For Steve Cooper” chant (like the one we used to do for Brian Clough). We should sing this for a full minute and then when the minute is complete, we should end it with chants of “Nuno!”

I’m suggesting 23rd minute as it represents the 23 years we were absent from the Premier League until Cooper got us there.

Thoughts?

Wouldn’t this be the football equivalent of shouting out your Ex‘s name whilst hanging out the back of your new partner, sort of?

To be fair, the standard Steve Cooper chant was recycled from a Sabri Lamouchi chant.

So to sing it one more time, then invent a new one for the Holy Ghost, would be fine.

Completely pointless exercise really. Cooper isn't there to appreciate it, the players get nothing from it and it undermines the new manager.

Cooper has had plenty of appreciation and I'm sure knows exactly how much the fans love him. I mean his name was chanted at 5-0 down at Fulham ffs.

Nuno knows it's coming. Being a football man and all.

I honestly don't see any negative with it, Nuno's well aware of what Steve did for the club and if anything it should show him that the Forest faithful embrace people who embrace us, so it's essentially an invite to do well for us.

Also think that it's better done this way to give the crowd a release for any frustration at events, rather than them sat there pent up with frustration, and then letting that out with some Cooper chants if we start getting battered.

The King is dead.
Long live the King.
Cooper chants now are for me needless and almost petulant, however they are intended.
I wont join in on 23 minutes.
I tend to agree,Captain.
We all love Steve Cooper (a true Forest legend)-the best way the players and supporters can
salute his achievements this Saturday is getting fully behind the new manager and making sure Bournemouth leave the City Ground empty handed.
I’m sure Steve would appreciate this more than singing his name during the game.

I mean, fans are gonna chant what they want, when they want regardless of whether other fans have decided it’s not helpful, counter-productive or whatever, so discussing it here is not going to have any effect.

I think to be honest, Nuno will be more perplexed by @Wes' Organ and his pals in the „A“ Block giving it the „You’re goin‘ home in a f***ing ambulance!“ chant?

If you’ve paid your money frankly you can sing what you want.
