Check their sites, you'd think they'd just signed the best defender in the world. We madde such an effort to retain him by err not offering him a contract.

Bye bye. Maybe he heard there was an opening at an east anglian club and he thought Balsawood was taking him to Norwich....

Can't wait for this to be confirmed. Such a liability, would rather play lascelles...

I'd rather play Brian Clough's statue - at least it wouldn't run around like a headless chicken and would make less misplaced passes.

If Carlsberg made footballing weeks then SC would be driven out of the city ground by a smurf on a tandem with a ticket to bristol in his pocket, the rest of the backroom staff would go too and _____ would replace him. (intentionally left blank because I would prefer practically anyone to owd SC)

Has he singed yet?
A real shame to loose someone like Chambers. A massive talent, a great servant to the club and never put a foot wrong in anything he did.

I still don't understand why everyone's so happy to see him go. He had one bad (terrible) season, but the year before that he was immense, and our player of the year. Seriously, do we all have to be so fickle, especially when we are so short of cover at the back anyway?? We would have been much better off keeping him, stripping him of the captaincy and trying to coax some form out of the lad in my opinion. Oh yeah, and sacking Cotteril for his 'Luke don't pass it on the floor, hit it forward' shouts from the sidelines.

If we weren't comically short of defenders then this wouldn't be a problem because let's face it, Chambo had an absolute mare of a season last year.

I'm glad that if he does go we can offer someone else the captaincy, someone far more deserving, someone who can actually help motivate the squad and keep them on the thin and narrow, but crux of the issue now is to get defenders. Three of them.

So does anyone know why he's leaving? Have we not offered him a contract because our arms are still tied or is there more to it? I think he could be a good player under the right manager and players to boss him around. His problem is that he's not a leader and far far from captain material. He just doesn't have the qualities of a captain at all.

I dont think he has been offered a contract. Was good, rubbish season last season. Not sad to see him go as long as he is replaced well.

Clotts was given sufficient funds to offer contracts to two players - he chose Lynch and Macleary. The money from the contract Macleary turned down was not used to make an offer to either Chambers or Anderson which I guess means that we don't want them.

If the Al Hasawi deal is confirmed maybe we'll make offers to them. The only reason I'd keep him is because we're so thin on the ground with defenders.

And Chambers problems go back further than last year. From his time with us it seems that his "good" year was the blip and not the attracious season he had last year.

If we do keep him no way on earth has he done anything to justify retaining the captaincy.

Average defender at best.

Leaves us criminally short at the back now. If lunch goes the new owners need to invest in a entire new back four.. (minus Gunter)
