21 year old midfielder from Barnsley. My Barnsley supporting brother has just messaged me he's hearing that we're after him for £750k, the figure seems extremely low but we could be testing them and Dane would know the financial position they're in.

He is a player that my brother has previously said will kick on to a higher level, there's definitely a very good player on there on the few occasions I've seen him.

Been on my radar for a while, think he'd be an astute signing. Similar sort of player to Swift who we've been after before.

Think Championship is probably his level but if we can get him in for £700k or so then you get a fairly good technical player who's good off the ball and can get you moving. You know, the sort of player we've paid £13m for in the past.

We need a #10, I don't think Zinkernagel is right for that slot. We've got no one that can play there properly yet we seem to have reverted back to 4-2-3-1 again.

£750k could be his buy out clause, and who would know better than Dane.

Styles is a swiss army knife of a player though, a lot like Osborn in many ways, but, more comfortable with the ball at his feet. Theres a reason he got the nickname "The Bury Baggio". Can remember him playing for Bury against us when we had them in the cup, and he ran the game that night, even as a 17 year old.

I've had a natter with a mate of mine who does work with BBC Sheffield, and he says that we've asked about him, and are definitely making the right sounds towards Barnsley about him

Would be happy with this. Lovely player. Seem to remember him scoring a beauty against us in the last few minutes of a game when Barnsley went through a period of beating us 1-0. He played on the left that night, as a wing back I think, but seemed to pop up on the right a lot yesterday. Would be a handy fella to have.

Sounds very knee jerk and spontaneous. First Derby lad, now this guy, didn't we learn from the Arteta experience??

I am pretty sure we have been looking at Styles for a while. I remember there being links in the summer.

He didn't even play well against us, so I doubt it would be anything to do with that game.

We also took a look at him in the summer. This is someone we've been keeping an eye on.
