Saw it last night.
I love his calm punditry in a world of sensationalistic behaviour.
Get well soon Ray.

Get well soon Ray. One of the better English players of that era, and another sign that I'm getting old.

Despite his own well-publicised personal issues, in his media roles he's never come across as anything other than a thoughtful and considered observer of the game. One of the best players of his generation too.

Great player in his day, played not only at the top level in England but also in Europe with Milan and PSG (when the latter were a proper club).

Get well soon Butch.

I must admit he’s one of the few pundits that I’d sit up and listen to. He doesn’t say much but when he speaks it’s not bullshit.

i've always liked him, sort of pops up as a pundit here and there but been pretty regular on talksport and i've spent alot of time listening to him over the last couple of years, he is very easy informative and pleasent listening, a true dignified gentleman.

If he goes to Indo-China I want (someone) hiding in a bowl of rice ready to pop a cap in his ass

My old man met him in a garage a couple of years back when he was getting his tyres changed. He always liked him when he was on talksport so went over to talk to him and safe to say he isn’t any different to how he portrays himself as a pundit.

RIP Butch, 61 is no age at all, especially for an athlete.

When you get to my age and look at group photos and realise you're the only one on the photo still alive, you realise that death comes to all of us, no matter how nice you are.

Sad for the family, but he was never going to live forever.

His undoubted footballing and coaching ability aside, Ray's genuinely effortless punditry was criminally underrated in my opinion and was deserving of a much-wider audience. He clearly had no ego and was scrupulously fair in his appraisals and observations.

RIP Ray. A sad day for football in particular and sport in general.
