Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

Pants was pants.

Problem with Pants is that with his height he should have been dominent in the air, but seemed to be glued to his line, negating the value of his height. Distributions was also awful.

Brice is miles better and whilst he is from the school of parry and punch rather than smother and catch with can result in more rebound opportunities, he is still much better.

Spot on. Pantillimon also went down like a tree falling over - mainly due to his height - he just didn’t seem to have the agility.

Brice Samba (as I’ve said before) reminds me of PSG legend Bernard „The Cat“ Lama in his goalkeeping technique.

My mate came out with "Pantilimon goes down like a flight of stairs: one step at a time".
I watched him closely after that to see if it was fair... it was.

The smoother and catch technique can also result in opportunities if the goalkeeper drops the ball, takes a knock while catching it etc. There is no right way, we are just more used to English 'keepers catching it. What Samba usually does well, is directing his punches away from traffic. Not often does he palm it straight out to an oncoming player.

Two games in a row the opposition commentary team have commented on Brice Samba being the best goalkeeper they have seen this season.

He is as good as you can get at this level, we shouldn't take him for granted.

Fantastic today. Need to keep hold of him though, there will be clubs looking at him wanting him in their side

He was outstanding today. Saved a few tricky ones and punched well. An excellent game from him.

Thought his distribution was excellent. One first time ball in first half out to Christie was sublime. Seems to of got his confidence back.

I agree his distribution was first class just like when he first came

That pass to Christie in the 2nd half would be wanked over non stop on match of the day in the top league.

His positioning today was outstanding. Put himself to be right behind all of their headers

He's the best passer at the club. Great vision & technique.

Superb this season & one of the best signings we've made in ages.

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

It really helped that he had Cash, Daws, Worrall & Watson in front of him last year didn't it?

Still think he's a decent keeper, but not the Beasant-level signing some thought when he first arrived.

I actually think DDV was better tbh.

DDV would pull off a worldie then let something in he probably could have saved.. like Bryce, it's why they ended up in the 2nd tier of English football

If there is one position in the team we don't need to be worrying about at the moment it's goalkeeper.

Shall we remove “magic hands” from the title, I feel we’ve jinxed him

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

Tell me why?

Well while he’s not in the dire category like some of them he is definitely not a good enough gk to get us out of this league

Too ponderous, laboured, it’s as if he doesn’t take it seriously enough. Yes play with a smile on your face but this guy for me is borderline playing in his back yard mentally.

We are not getting a better keeper anytime soon, if there is a problem it's that he has lost confidence in those in front of him, the back four and the DF position are where the problem lies. As has been said before in this thread when he had a back four he could rely on we saw the best of him

Re: Brice Samba - „Magic Hands“

Wasn't he voted by players as the best keeper in the league?
