I like the post, but I don't think we're entirely ruthless either, I think we're being balanced. Which is great.

Had Brice not kicked up a stink I think he'd have been given a shot at the Prem, much like the other players who have to step up are gonna get. However we've rightly been ruthless ousting someone who's ego has got the better of him.

I've a lot of love for players like Cohen, Yates, Reid, Worrall etc. because they are brilliant in their own ways, but also humble enough to accept no-one is bigger than the club. That's a pro mentality and what's needed for the Prem IMO (for us anyway).

Brice has been great for us and helped get us up in spectacular style, but that's clearly gone to his head and he's a twat for acting like he has, simply because the squad needs to be as unified as possible for us now. I love how the club has dealt with this in a no-nonsense, "club-first" way. I think that's as fair as it is ruthless.
We have to remember that the club went against his contract stipulation first here. Then Brice reacted. If you were a player with a promotion trigger clause in your contract and you played as big a part as he did in winning us promotion you would expect it to be triggered. Not saying he reacted well but we threw the first punch.

It's all about mid-table...
Reid? The guy who stopped trying for months when a prem team became interested, drank his top level career away, returned to us fat and out of shape as part of one of the worst midfield line ups I've ever seen us have?

If anything I'd use him as example as someone who threw his career away due to unprofessionalism

Also having known his girlfriend for a period so met him a few times I can tell you he was as far from humble as can be lol
Always loved him on the pitch (great to see a bit of quality which we were starved of), off it not the same chap, I agree.

This is why players and clubs end up not on the same page.

All down to agents putting more and more intricate money making schemes into contracts. Bastards.

Contract clauses are enacted automatically. The club couldn't have stopped Brice getting his PL promotion wage bump, same as it couldn't have stopped the sun rising from the east.

Oh yeah when he was on he was one of the best, should have gone to the very top

I just gave him a Google, for some reason I thought he spent more than one season at Spurs. Handed in a transfer request at Forest too. If people turned on Samba for one agent tweet, not even by Samba himself, you have to wonder what Reid with have tweeted if he was playing in the twitter era lol

What was the original chant Forest fans had? He's fat, he's shit, he's hardly ever fit? Harsh lol

Where have you heard that the club breached his contract?

Oh sorry, not a breach but sounds like the new offer didn’t match the same amount. We will probably never know exactly what happened. Maybe offered him something they knew he wouldn’t accept.

Don't think it sounds like that at all - from what's been said, it sounds like:
a. His existing contract doubled the wage upon promotion.
b. The new contract offered was the same as the existing (doubled) wage.

I've not seen any suggestion from any credible source that they asked him to take a wage cut, even relative to the new doubled rate.

It sounds like his wage would’ve doubled but still only put him just ahead of what Horvath is on. After the impact he made last season you can see why he felt disgruntled.

Yeah double wages, I bet we'd all hate that

Thing is though the silly twat has not only turned down the opportunity to have double wages, but also a chance to shine in the Prem where - if he's the keeper which he thinks he is - could net him another double-up or even more in a year or so.

The Prem's one of the biggest stages there is, and if you hit a purple patch you're entire career flies.

To be fair, we were an absolute joke of a club at that point. Scimeca, Brennan, Harewood and Williams had all jumped ship, and had been replaced with awful players. Hart had been sacked. The club were not investing in the team, and gaslighting the fanbase with 'We're serious about promotion, are you?' season ticket sales campaign. The team were struggling under Kinnear, and then Megson took over and thought it was a good idea to destroy any morale in the dressing room, and then play hoofball while shifting out target man and top scorer (Gareth Taylor) to centre-back. Can you really blame him for wanting out? Dawson was club captain and constantly injured, and he happily f**ked off too!

I agree that Reid didn't make the most of his career, probably didn't have enough pace to be a top 4 player, but should've been a mainstay in the Irish side and a Premier League player for 10 years. However, once he got himself fit, he was brilliant when he got back. I think he'd really grown up by the time he came back and was a leader on the pitch. One of the few players who was as good, if not better, in his second spell.

Personally, I'm thankful to players like Brice as he's given me more to celebrate as a Forest fan than Andy Reid who was our best player in two somewhat shite spells.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, don't blame him at all. We'd kill any young players career at that point lol

My point was more to Alfs description of Reid being humble and not believing one man is bigger than the club, despite him being a man who asked to leave our club for his career lol

I guess the Reid stuff frustrated me in general. If you really look at it properly he had one good season at the start of his career for us (I remember the 2002/03 season people were booing him coming on, and then the chant I mentioned)

After that one good season he started pulling out of every challenge and looked like he'd rather be anywhere else, then left in the January

He came back to us hugely out of shape, was terrible first season, bit better second, then had a great season, where he still only played two thirds of the games, before getting injured the next season and never being seen again

So a combined 2-3 seasons of him being good for Forest but the way people talk about him you'd think we'd seen years of some living legend

But Samba had three good seasons, gets us promoted, and is labelled a "twat" because of one agent tweet haha

The whole thing is mad!

Did Reid refuse a new contract then?

Or were Spurs after him for a while, offering him a step up in Leagues, making constant bids, and Megson's style not working for Reid and hurting his career?

OK so I understand

Rejecting a contract = twat

Requesting a transfer then spending months putting in half arsed performances as the team who gave you you start in football heads towards relegation = professional and humble?

Just trying to understand lol

I love how even your reply makes it sound like Reid got his head turned by a bigger club yet that's your attempt to defend him lol

Just one last point...Lens were said to have courted Samba and made multiple bids, why is Samba choosing to go to them make him a "twat" but Reid choosing to go to a club who did the same doesn't? Genuine question

When a Prem club comes knocking, did you seriously expect Reid to stick around and let Megson ruin his career?

In answer to your question, because Samba wasn't playing under a manager who was killing his career and the club. The total opposite in fact.

Ah cool so if a player decides he doesn't like Cooper you'll be OK with making no effort in matches, and even declare him a humble and professional guy, sounds reasonable, glad it's all cleared up :)

Didn't he want him dropping for the 2nd leg against Sheff Utd?
