You mean prioritize young, hungry talent with a desire to prove themselves over old has-beens who live off past glories, and were never that good anyway?

It's almost as if we did well when we had a CEO who operated to that MO.

7. Brandon Aguilera - 9/10

The debutant scored an absolute rocket to put the Gas ahead inside the opening 15 minutes. The Costa Rican ran the show in the middle of the park and was mesmeric at times.
Mesmeric! Glad to hear he's doing well - honestly think he's way above that level; will be interesting to see if he can keep up motivation.

I watched their game to see how he got on. Played as a deep lying playmaker, he didn't dribble as much as we usually see but I think that was more under instruction to keep hold of the ball and hold possession.

He's bulked out a bit and is much stronger than the player we've seen in preseasons. He really put a shift in a was very fiery. Sprayed some sublime diags from one side to the other and obviously scored an absolute thunderc**t of a strike.

A solid debut showed lots of quality way beyond L1 level

Yeah it’s down to their play style, very directly. There was a moment before the goal that the only play they’d do is give it to the keeper and hope I think Chris Martin bring it down or heads it on like he did for the goal. Very direct style. Often times high pace so I think this is the perfect club for him but I have zero clue the formation and I watched the entire game.

He reminds me a bit of Scarpa. But Aguilera gives you battling qualities, vision, decisiveness and huge potential.

No surprise now why Forest let Scarpa go.

Aguilera has that fiery side that Scarpa didn’t have, nor the strength. I can envision a few red cards in his future, he will not get mugged off in England lol.

Lad is only 20 so he’s got more growth in him in terms of strength whereas Scarpa at his point his career was just about keeping fit.

Aguilera, if he keeps his wits about him and works hard enough, could be just like Andy Reid.

I'd love to hear Andy Reid's thoughts on that.

Hopefully he stays off the pork pies and pints…

A deep lying playmaker like at the base of midfield? Definitely didn’t see that one coming

With VAR would that goal be taken away cuz the ref got in the way of the defender?

That would depend on whether Bristol Rovers were playing Man Utd, Brentford or Bournemouth I guess.

It was weird, swear on my life they were playing a 442 and he was in the middle 2 but it was chaos.

There manager said they have a couple out and he wants to use him more advanced, but yesterday playing deeper was a good way for him to settle in.
