Bomb squad, the Premier edition

Apart from Arter (Jesus...) and Laryea (who was told to find a team, if I understand correctly), are there any other members of the bomb squad currently?

The squad will certainly grow in numbers as the transfer window progresses: Ioannou was training with you in pre-season simply because you had no left backs, but now that Richards signed he will undoubtedly go, and the same will probably be the case with Silva, Lyle Taylor and Da Costa. Anyone else? I doubt Ojeda and Cafú will be left out, at least not until the very end of the window, and Mbe Soh and Panzo don't count, as they can also feature for the U23.

isn't it a bit unfair to say Laryea is part of the bomb squad?
Da Costa and Silva on the other hand...

At this point, it's just Arter. Everyone else is in Spain and training with the first team so is being given a chance (even if it's unlikely some make the cut). My guess is that anyone else deemed surplus when the various incomings are sorted and Cooper has made his choices should be fairly easy to arrange a transfer for, or at minimum a loan, so they won't be hanging around the place in the same way we've seen in the past / with Arter.

Much like Drager would probably count if he'd not already gone to Luzern.

Ah, OK, I thought Laryea was not in Spain.

Sorry yes, the people who had internationals in June aren't back yet. I'm still pretty certain that he won't be exiled from the first team squad when he does return - most likely a loan is arranged, and he trains as normal until that happens.

The fact that the club have reportedly said loan rather than leave suggests they've not 100% written him off yet.

"Bomb squad" is players told to piss off, it's taken a very different meaning recently.

Currently as far as I am aware it's just Harry Arter - the rest have all been involved in pre-season.

Exactly, bomb squad are players who have no future here at all under any circumstance, rather than surplus to requirement which is what most of the players are.

Yep - and the only reason we've had one in recent seasons is because the players in question have been so awful that we've struggled to shift them - even on loan and retaining a portion of the wages. It's just Arter left on his own in that situation now.

Of course there'll be others at the club who won't be needed anymore, but I think all of them are decent and professional enough that they'll be able to get a Championship or overseas (or absolute worst case, League One) loan or transfer easily and so won't hang around unwanted like Arter, Jenkinson, etc. There's absolutely no reason to put anyone else in that category at this point.

I think Lolley will stay and be on the bench a fair bit. It's 9 subs, and our squad is still small.
I'd hope not. In the end he offered nothing coming off the bench last season so I'm struggling to see how he'd make a positive impact in a far more competitive league.

I'd rather see minutes go to someone whose Forest career is on the way up, rather than the way down.

11.5% of fantasy premier league managers have Lyle in their squads. Maybe they know something we don't?

I believe we’re ready to formally induct some new members.

Can we give a big bomb squad welcome to Mr Jonjo Shelvey who will be seated next to Harry Arter.

Mr Shelvey comes with a high price tag and is one of our fastest joining members - a real achievement.

What a complete waste of f***ing time lol. It was clear he doesn’t have anything like the attitude or quality to wear a Forest shirt. It couldn’t have been Cooper that sanctioned this piece of shit signing? Lol

'kin 'ell . . . .

Arter doing fist pumps around the boiler room because he's sick and tired of playing Patience/solitaire and can now have a game of snap with Jonjo.

2 more and they'll have a Bridge Club.

*edited to give the card game its proper name. Mi poor owd Grandad who taught me how to play would be outraged.

Going by their reaction speed on the pitch, snap is probably a bad choice!
