Very good keeper but £7.5M??? That's a hell of a lot and Westwood would probably a better option at a fraction of that.

Would be a great but very unlikely signing.

Bournemouth would probably be looking for anywhere between £5-10m and wages likely in excess of £50-60k a week.

He’s on £95k a week apparently.

We’ve more chance of signing Krasimir Balakov.

Pants got 15 clean sheets this season (4th in the league), he can be a bit dodgy at some stuff but so can Begovic and Pants didn't cost us £7.5m, not a position we should be spending that kind of money in.

When you take those numbers into consideration it is madness and I would stick with Pants and hope promotion is where we can improve on the GK position.

As above, not a position we need to prioritise in the summer.

See Bournemouth v Burnley recently. Piss poor.

£7.5m, that'll probably be almost our entire transfer budget for this summer. Taking his massive wages into account too, I think we can safely file this one under "not happening".

Unless the figures quoted bear no relation to what it would actually take to get him.

His name is an anagram of "orgasmic vibe" so it's a definite yes from me

Maybe, but I still expect his wages to be far beyond what we can pay and his transfer fee quite significant for a position that isn't a priority for us.

Probably the same was said about Carvalho & Grabban last summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have an even bigger spend this summer.

With FFP under consideration, I reckon we'll be spending around £8m to £10m personally. We'll almost certainly fall foul of FFP if we spend like we did last summer again IMO.

How much was actually spent in terms of FFP last year though? I think it’ll be much lower than people expect, especially with transfer fees.

If we're spending 7.5m it should be on a winger or a striker not a GK, if it were spent on a Rb I'd be OK with that but they'd have to be fantastic.

You're obviously not going to spend 7.5m on a 31-year-old goalkeeper. If there's any truth in the assumption that you're interested, you're obviously interested in a loan, covering part of his wages. If Bournemouth don't want him, they will have a hard time selling him, and thus will have to settle for a loan.

The wage bill last season would have been massive with so many players on the books, probably a small fortune in loan fees too. It all adds up, I'll be surprised if we spend anything close to what we spent last summer.

ASMIR Begovic described as "frustrating" his spells out of the Cherries' starting XI and admitted he would discuss his future with the club "in the next few days".

Transfer speculation has linked the Bosnian goalkeeper with a move away from Vitality Stadium, including reports of interest from Fenerbahce, Olympiakos, Nottingham Forest and Stoke City.

The 31-year-old had been ever present between the sticks for Eddie Howe's side in the Premier League until January, when he was replaced by Artur Boruc.

After a nine-match spell on the sidelines, Begovic returned for the defeats against Leicester and Burnley.

However, Boruc and Mark Travers were selected ahead of him for the final five matches of the season.

Speaking to The Sun, Begovic said: “I haven’t played as much as I would like and it’s been frustrating.

“For the club, we can’t forget it was a collective effort to stay in the league and a fifth consecutive season in the Premier League is a huge achievement.

“In terms of my own future, it’s something Bournemouth and I will discuss in the next few days.

“I’ve been in England for 16 years and around the Premier League a long time – would I rule out a move abroad in any way? No, I wouldn’t, of course not.

“That’s something I can potentially see myself doing in the future.

“I’m not saying it’s right now an option but I wouldn’t rule it out going forward.”

Last week, boss Howe confirmed he had given the goalkeeper “the final week of the season off to spend some extended time with his family”.

Quizzed about the former Stoke and Chelsea goalkeeper's future at the Dorset club, Howe added: "Who knows what the summer brings for him and for us, but there’s been no fall out and he’s still a top professional.”

I was a big critic of Pants. Starting to realise I'm being too harsh.

The stats don't lie. He's done well to keep 15 clean sheets given all the different centre-half partnerships he's played behind this season - Fox, Figueiredo, Wague, Milosevic, Robinson, Dawson, Benalouane, and Hefele.

Karanka gets credit for that stat too. Stats dont lie, but they can distort the truth. Without wanting to rake up old wounds, we could have had a better keeper than Pants under Warburton & his stats wouldnt be as good.
