Are we owed an explanation?

Simple questions; are we owed an explanation for Wednesday's fiasco?

As fans who follow their team through thick and never-ending thin, should the club be honest with us and come out and state honestly what the hell happened in the last days and hours of the season?

The investment of time and money to follow a club who perennially disappoint is quite the commitment. So rather than events being shrugged off as 'a bad day at the office' or some other trite cliché, do we deserve to be told exactly what went wrong?

Yes, we finished 7th. If you had shown me the final table at the start of the season I'd have been surprised. However the manner in which we ended up there cannot be ignored.

If the manager or players don't know, then that's a pretty damning indictment of their ability to understand the game. If the club feel we don't deserve an explanation as it may end up bruising a few egos down at the City Ground and beyond, well maybe that's exactly what's needed.

As it stands I have no respect for anyone employed by the club, bar the tea lady, and the club have a hell of a lot to do to make things right. Personally it'd be nice to be treated like an adult, rather than an ATM which is just expected to keep coughing up cash without complaint.

Or maybe I'm just an entitled dick who should just engage in a bit of denial and happily clap along for another season as if nothing had ever happened.

Simple answer: No.

Clubs just a rich mans plaything that he’ll do what he wants with. You’ve got two choices.

I don't think we're owed an explanation for anything. It was a shit way to finish it all.

Shit things happen. Sabri apologised after. That's enough for me. I don't need or want the players grovelling. Let them hurt, go away and come back with fire in their bellies.

All that needs to be said and done for me is a thank you to the fans (which has been done on the OS and Sabri constantly does anyway). Then a message from the owner also thanking everyone, saying we're working hard to get it right for next year, and keep the faith.

I imagine we will get one in time, the club aren't rushing or making any knee jerk reactions so far which is comforting.

Everything needs to be planned and in control. (unlike our defence the other night as it seems)

Rinse and repeat I'm afraid.

Doesn't really bother me, but with the short pre-season I'd like to see swift-ish action on whatever is happening, and a statement made regards that either way, just so we know where we stand. (so early next week at the latest really)

Whether Sab stays or goes, some clarity on what the owners intentions are for the season coming would be nice.

Chances of getting it? Not great.

As fans you're owed success and gratification for your support, rather than words.

Honest question- what sort of thing would you expect them to say if they did?

It’s sport, it happens. I don’t really know what you expect the club to say to “explain” it. It’s not like anyone at the club decided to mess it up at the end on purpose, so I’m not sure what it is you’re looking for to be honest.

Sabri apologised, what more to say is there?

What is there to explain? We all saw what happened.

I don't think they have to tell us what they plan on doing with transfers or anything like that either simply because stuff changes too fast, see Fawaz saying Burke won't be sold 24 hours before he's sold. Statements like that just end up with more hassle.

Keep quiet and do what's expected.

Statements don't mean owt these days, more often than not they comprise of premeditated bullshit.

I normally like a statement, but then Ive supported this club long enough to know communication with fans isn't its strong point. However in this case, I refer everyone to Lamouchis Stoke post match, the pain, stupefication & remorse was palpable.

The club bottled it. How do they dress that up?

Me personally I think Sabri worked wonders yes he made mistakes but no more than others. Sorry to bang the drum but the squad isnt great and we dont pay enough in wages or spend enough.

Yes it hurts more because we were there so long and its more the embarrassment and stick from other fans that make it worse but objectively if just finished 7th with no fiasco than fans wouldnt be really bothered.

For me I wouldnt want a statement apologising more something along the lines of what they will seek to improve. I think they need to improve recruitment if they can and also they need to add one more voice to the recruitment team who knows the domestic market. I honestly think Pearce would work wonders in that role.

This.

Of course it's ludicrous to think so but it's looking like they do it on purpose, such is the gross capitulation.

It's farcical, there is no other explanation. Ya dont go 45 games strong and organised to the last 25 mins and all give in like a wet fart.

I'm not bothered about an explanation from what's just happened, plain as day the players are mentally weak and the manager naive.

I do think we however need to know where we are heading.

No glossed up dick fingers bullshit, just explain where we are either "we have cash, or "we have no cash" I f***ing hate propaganda, just be honest.... the whole main stand fiasco was a prime example of this.

What do you want them to say exactly? Sabri summed it all up post match. I don't think Sabri or the players went intentionally out of their way to f**k things up.

I felt sorry for Lamouchi after that interview, no manager or player wants to fail. I hate it sometimes when players apologise because it’s almost like you get the impression they wanted the bad thing to happen. It’s just possible they are shit and and they know that so no need to stick the boot in.

Barry exactly my feelings mate. I want to know they reviewed things and what they are going to do differently going forward. For me I would want them to tell us the situation transfer wise and what they intend to do about recruitment (because they must surely see a massive issue with recruitment!).

I felt for Lamchop, really did. He tried all he knew and choked with his tactics.

That radio interview will stay with me.

We know they fooked it up. But there is a reason why.

The players didn't turn up. Why?

The manager chose a bizarre approach for several of the final games. Why?

A garlic shrug of the shoulders and just saying 'it was a disaster' isn't really enough in my opinion.

After most disasters you have an in depth look at the circumstances around it to understand what happened and ensure it doesn't happen again.

Why should this be such a big secret that the fans aren't worthy of knowing?

It's not a big secret.

It was a f*** up. Why do they need to come out and say those words?

It's very British to want to dissect something after the fact, to revel in the anguish more in self torture.

This has briefly crossed my mind as well.

I don’t know what the odds were for us to f*** up a 6 goal cushion and 3 points lead in 90 minutes as I’m not a betting man but it’s so improbable it’s difficult to understand how they managed to do it. Against a fairly poor side at that, I bet Stoke haven’t scored 4 goals in a game all season, have they?
Even by our standards you couldn’t have made it up.

But like someone else said, that’s sport. It’s just annoying that it always seems to be us that ends up holding the shit end of the stick.

Sabri said enough for me on the night, I’d rather none of us dwell on it including the players. They need to dust themselves down sharpish.

I remember when people were accusing Wes Morgan of deliberately throwing big games cos he didn't want us to go up, cos he'd get binned in the Prem.

Probably wasn't the case, looking back on him being a Prem title winner.

You sound like a conspiracy theorist mate.

Although a garlic shrug does sound delicious.
