Andrew Omobamidele

Looks like he has made the step up from championship with ease, seltz looking a bit more assertive behind them does also look to have helped

Totally disagree with the Omobamidele Supporters. The issue is that the player's positional (situational) awareness is creating additional pressure on Murillo as Omobamidele fails to correctly man-mark the appointed players especially in set pieces and doesn't do the fair share of defensive tackles. Unlike Niakhate to whom has shown to be totally dependable, steps up to be the integral key player in a defensive partnership, Omobamidele currently hasn't show that ability. Of course we've shown this season and early last year defensively we've been fragile against set pieces, and / or counter-attack but in the few game it's undeniably worse. Yes the African Cup, Yes the usual crippling injury list, but if Worrall, Niakhate, or McKenna were involved would results be worse? Sorry I don't get the adoration.

I don't think we've been worse at defending set pieces in the last few games. And as much as I like Niakhate, I'm not sure I could say he's 'totally dependable'. As for Worrall and McKenna, I'd say you have a short memory. Omobamidele is hardly the finished article but given the context (ever-changing back 4, the 2 worst goalkeepers in the league) I think he's looked very capable personally.

Didn't deserve to be on the losing side today - did really well, and put the error last week behind him.
Yep Gyros, credit to the lad he bounced back well.

Thought only Boly could sort the aerial issues at CB, but Omo looked very decent in this area on Saturday. Wouldnt be sad to see Boly come in, but this lad deserves another go after the Liverpool performance. These players are seriously pissed after Saturday, Id play every one of them to take it out on Brighton.

Really interesting and brave selection ahead of more senior CBs like Felipe and Niakhate I thought, but you can't argue with the performance. Keeps his place for Brighton for me.

(I also thought his mistake against Villa was not quite as bad as some made out - it wasn't a helpful ball into him and it was slightly unlucky how the ball broke across for Bailey in the melee with Watkins, Omo and Sels.)

It's far too soon to make a proper judgment, but early signs suggest that Ross Wilson possibly may have unearthed another potential gem, as he clearly has done already with Murillo. The lad just needs games and it's encouraging to see that Nuno seems to have plenty of trust in him by including him against the top teams.

I know Murillo catches the eye but this guy is no slouch on the ball, is mobile and is decent at the defensive fundamentals. Looking like he could develop in to a very very good player.

Nice to see the young man returning to his roots in Leixlip to do a signing

Once he bulks up physically, I think Omobamidele is going to surprise a lot of people. Murillo took most of the plaudits this year but he's clearly super talented.

I'm glad he got some top level minutes under his belt, but at his age he really should have been playing 90 minutes every week somewhere.

Depending on who Forest sign this summer, I would perhaps look at a loan to a decent team in the Bundesliga or Ligue 1. A season of games at someone like Nice or Wolfsburg would do him wonders I reckon.

Arsenal had the right idea when they sent Saliba back on loan for a few years.

Don't disagree, though think we'll need him given Felipe, McKenna and (most likely) Worral have gone.

The difference of course being Arsenal could afford to sign a player like Saliba and basically write off the investment from a playing perspective for a few years, clearly so they could get in on the player before anyone else did, like Spurs, Man U, Liverpool, or waiting for him to ultimately be worth more.

We have already spent a lot of money on this lad and so even something like a loan back to Norwich would not be the best way the club could invest 11m or however much he cost, being how close we are with PSR anyway.

Personally I don't think it worked well at times playing him with Murillo. They're both talented but very young and CB isn't really a position for young players at the top level anyway, unless they're exceptional and even then they usually have another experienced CB alongside them, not two 21 year olds. This is where having someone like Boly or Felipe comes in as they have a long top level career and have done it all before. Not some kid with a few matches for Norwich in the Championship and another kid with a handful in the Brazilian leagues.

I wouldn't loan him out. He has a part to play here and could easily nail down a permanent spot. I do agree though, he has almost gone under the radar because of the freakish nature of Murillo but he has done well when he has played.

He reminds me of Konsa.
