But how are we gonna fit all these players into the team?

He's not a CF so not competing with or replacing Taiwo. It seems a common view that we are much better with a CF so that means one spot goes to Taiwo/Wood/Surridge.

That leaves two wide attacking spots for BJ and MGW, one of whom would need to be dropped to accommodate ASM. We already have Lingard and Dennis on the bench. There's also Scarpa, who i dont see dropping deeper atm as losong kne of the three grafters exposes us too much, as happened on Wednesday.

We can't keep on spending £10M and £20M on players or we will be royally f**ked if we go down. Surely any investment should be in the back line? CB is our obvious weakness atm.

Have you not seen how weak our bench has looked in recent matches? Football is a squad game now more than ever, with the introduction of five substitutes per game. And one of our subs is Emmanuel Dennis, who is absolutely shite. Lingard may not be here next season either, and with Chris Wood up front, we'd benefit from an attacking threat on our left side that can cross a ball.

Nottingham's dirty secret
Of all the players we have signed this season, THIS guy would be the one I would want the most. And that is saying something!
Definitely the most exciting at present but in terms of long term impact, gotta be Danilo for me.

His ceiling and potential just blows my mind.

He has Chelsea for £60m in a year's time written all over him. Unfortunately.
He kind of does I agree. I would however take comfort knowing we're getting £60M along with other talented players seeing what we could do for their careers. It takes us up another couple of notches in the desirability factor

That's kind of the name of the game for clubs like us at the moment. If we spend 20m of it finding the next Danilo then trouser the 40m for a shiny new signing or two.

It might sound counterproductive but selling your best player for a ridiculously inflated price can sometimes be what you need to progress. The Prem money alone isn't enough when you get to a certain point. Chelsea, Liverpool etc don't necessarily sell their top players but they find mugs like us to give them £17m for Williams or Gilmour for £10m to Brighton and this funds big signings.

We have to be much smarter in the transfer market now than we have been for the past 7/8 years where we just chuck a load of shit at the wall and pray something sticks.

A few years ago the forum was debating the merits of players like Dumitru, Lica, Carayol, Zach Clough etc

£26m?

What do Newcastle know about him that we don't?

They know he dont want to stay there and not play every game and now with Gordon his limited minutes so far become more limited.

With all these fancy-named Brazilian chaps flying about, it will be perhaps comforting to sign a player called “Alan”, instead!

Can't see this happening but would be one hell of a coup.

The sort of signing I thought we would have to wait until at least surviving our first season back.
