Advantage to who and for what?
The loaning club and player...

In terms of overall development.

What I'm getting at is the following, at the Wendies Alex could presumably live at home rather than in a hotel and maybe we would get him 1 day a week back at Forest to work with us-I gather that Brennan was at Forest training ground regularly when at Lincoln.
Does that help? Is it an advantage rather than being miles away in Edinburgh??

Brennan did come back to train a couple of times near the end of the season when at Lincoln but I don't see the point in doing it once a week, if you go on loan you need to make yourself at home. Mighten is not a baby, he has been around a first team setup for ages now.

Enough so infact to make him seem older than he is. 63 games as a 20 year old is great experience, he just needs regular game time now.

Looks like loan to Sheffield Wednesday is nearing completion. Good move for him, probably at the right level where he'll get a lot of minutes in a pressured environment where big club expects promotion.

Hello all, Wednesday fan living deep darkest Hucknall here in peace.

First of all, Cooper is doing a fine job with your boys. The atmosphere sounded great yesterday. You’ll stay up without doubt. Over on Owlstalk I’d actually predicted you to finish higher than Leicester.

Alex Mighten eh? From what I’ve seen the lads got pace and a good work rate. It’ll be an interesting signing for us and add even more options to what is a already a very strong league one squad.

It’s a good move all round. Going from one good club to another with expectations. In Darren Moore we’ve genuinely got one of footballs nice guys who seems to have developed a good relationship with all his players.

In an ideal world Mighten is scoring for us on the last day against the sheep rustlers to clinch us promotion and condemn that lot to another season in this farmers league.

Fingers crossed for us both this season!

Time for the Greek who will never understand the British loan mentality to moan about the fact that he is loaned out two leagues below your own. And for you to pelt me with counter-arguments and to point out that I will never understand the British loan mentality.

Exactly what Mighten needs, should have had this sort of loan last season.

Now, go and bag a hatrick v Derby.

Greek it’s not about mentality-the lower leagues here are way stronger than in Europe. L1 has improved massively over the last 5 years. No longer is it lumping long balls on a turnip field.
It will give Alex several things beyond the obvious game time-probably most importantly he’ll get a little more time on the ball.
It’s a good move for all parties

The English 3rd division is better than most countries top divisions in Europe

It's a better quality than most second divisions in Europe but he'll get what he needs which is plenty of games in succession at a side that are going to be pushing for promotion. Sheffield Wednesday are a big club too with an expectant fanbase. He'll get rattled heavily by defenders too if he delays his decision making so that will be important for him as speed of thought is one of the main differences in quality as you go up the leagues.

The loan system is an extremely useful tool in England and isn't looked down on by anyone at any level. There is a huge importance seen in getting plenty of minutes under your belt, with men and actually playing for 3 points. Some of those guys at that level rely on the win bonuses to pay their mortgage at the end of the month so tossing it off won't be accepted even if you've come from Man City etc. It's always been a hugely beneficial and successful way of developing youngsters and blooding them into the game.

Wednesday will be a good loan for him, though if I'm honest I was hoping a champ club might come in... Or rather that he would go to replace Bowler at Blackpool for a season. Anyway, good luck to the lad - I hope he stays fit and rips it up. I also hope it means we are getting Bowler...

I’ve just listened to his first interview since joining us and the lad comes across as a good kid. I just hope he’s used in a far better way than the Premier League loanee we had last season (Corbeanou from Wolves) who ended up leaving in January to join MK Dons.

Cooper ain’t daft though and I’m sure he’s had a good conversation with Darren Moore about what he’s expecting. Hopefully he’ll hit the ground running at Hillsborough on Saturday when we welcome our six fingered neighbours from Barnsley.

Match time works wonders for player development. Certainly better than bench warming. Johnson is a great example. He came back a new player after a season at Lincoln.

The right move for all parties concerned. Darren Moore is a good guy and manager I have a lot of time for. I'm certain he'll help Mighten with his development, whilst giving him a significant amount of playing game. I've seen some of Wednesday's play this season and they play attractive football which will suit him.

Good luck Alex.

I think he could have had a Championship loan.

He is a good player, just needs regular minutes. He will have no problems in League One IMO.

Lets be honest, this is the PERFECT move for Alex.

At Championship level last season he looked a bit lost, a run of games will help him and Wednesday more than it helps us. Hes past this "potential" tag for me, and he'll be at the right level for his current abilty and confidence.

Great club to go to as well, great club Wednesday are.

I said at the end of last season he needed a league one loan, and Sheffield Wednesday on paper seems like the perfect one

In an ideal world he'll have a great season and come back better, wiser and with more confidence.

Good move for all parties.

Mighten needs match minutes and experience. A season or two under his belt and he’ll be a cracking player.

To be honest, if/when you take PL parachute money clubs out of the equation, there isn‘t much difference between the top of L1 and the bottom of the Championship.

I reckon the club is more important, and he will only be up the road at the Owls, a proper club with a big fanbase, and he‘s got the chance to get in the team and play every week.

I reckon he will smash It.

Moore usually plays 5-3-2 so I can only think Mighten has gone to play as a Wingback?
