We've been linked by French papers with a move for 28yo Malian midfielder Abdou Traoré.

Out of contract this summer, he's out of favour ar Bordeaux, where he spent his whole European career so far (one loan to Nice).

There's not much info on him that I could find, but a couple of French articles I read indicated that his last renewal of contract made Bordeaux fans "gnash their teeth", the chairman came out and said he was on a really low wage so it's ok, Willy Sagnol wasn't picking him because he was overweight and the player himself admitted he had struggled to play regularly because he had suffered "a lot of injuries".

So, he sounds really promising......

Monty will be looking at players who he can sign under Fawaz, and this is what he'll be limited to. I dare say his wage cap will dwarf Dougie's with how Fawaz is currently operating.

I agree, but then we shouldn't create a situation where the manager is in a position with nothing to lose if he does.

That's been the reason for a lot of the rushed & wank signings. Doesn't make it right, but what else do folk expect Monty to do? He's in a scenario where he needs to win a game soon to stand any chance of staying, or looking respectable for his next job.
