4-4-2

Can we please now stop playing this? We were on a great run playing 4-5-1, then we change it and look horseshit against Yeovil, Preston, Blackpool, Sheff Utd. I don't get why you would change what was working so well back to what held us back during our bad period. Mental.

Spot on.

Same snags tonight with 451. Collins is the problem along with Lascelles when he plays next to him.

Also Jara is a good RB but isn't good enough at DM.

I agree Collins was pretty good. The problem is Lascelles looks lost and jittery when they play together. We need Hobbs and Wilson back if we are to progress in the play offs.

We looked tidy early on second half before they were reduced to ten with a bit of composure and the extra man in midfield.

Funnily enough when we moved to 4-4-2 in the last ten, despite having an extra man, we created absolutely nothing.

No debate about whether to play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 anymore if there ever was an argument there in the first place.

We looked nice and compact with Jara and Reid sitting deep as the '2' behind the fluid three first half too.

Collins problem is he isn't an organiser.

Jamaal is a rookie, 20-year old kid. When he plays with Hobbs, you see Hobbs talking to him, telling him where to go, when to stay and which player to pick up. Collins doesn't seem to dothat, and the younger man is left to himself and like tonight, looks a bit lost.

We need Hobbs or Wilson (or preferably both) back ASAP.

The game changing substitution was Henderson coming on for Cox. We were fluid and dangerous up until that point. Henderson looked like a lower league donkey without the effort.

THIS!

Henderson is an embarrassing useless plank.

He doesn't hold the ball up like he's supposed to do when it's played up to him. He loses possession every time and it always ends up coming right back at our defence. He doesn't win it and shows no desire to try to. He does not put any pressure onto the ball when the opponent has it. He looks like he's been taking tips in ball control from Moussi. He's an all-round lazy arse that adds nothing to our play when he comes on. His lack of presence and effort when the ball is played to him puts our defence under pressure when it inevitably comes right back at them. He's infuriating to watch and a waste of a substitution. Rafik Djebbour showed a whole lot more pace, movement, skill and desire in the ten minutes he played against Leicester than Hendo ever does when he comes on and yet there are already people on his back.

Collins did a few times. he was mainly shouting at Lascelles to get closer to him.

Is anybody expecting Billeh to take notice of all this valuable input into tactics and formations?

Absolutely dominated in midfield today even with 5 in there and we created f*** all.

To combat this injury crisis we need to go long ball with a 442.

Our shape fell apart as soon as Djebbour came on yet so many fans moan about playing 4-4-2. If we'd have started with that against a midfield of Gomez, McCann and McArthur we'd have been battered a lot heavier and a lot quicker than we were anyway.

Are you suggesting Greening contributed to handling their midfield?

I don't think he made a tackle or interception. A waste of a shirt today, very disappointing.

The formation was right today. Greening, despite his very good performance, wasn't the type we needed in there alongside Majewski and Jara. Greening was the safe option, but perhaps not the option to really say to Wigan, "we're going for you".

I think 4-5-1 is our best formation, but perhaps not with the midfield available to us and certainly not if we're going to play long ball but play Cox as the lone striker.

Henderson up top, Greening on the bench would have made more sense to me today. Not ideal, but we've got to a point where we can't win the possession game and we're choosing not to try for the physical win.

At points today I had no idea what formation we were playing. There were periods in the second half where we appeared to be playing some kind of backward 2,4,4 (or f*** knows) Mackie ended up so deep he almost needed fishing out the Trent.
