I'm in a place at the moment where I think Luton are going to get 9 points from there last few games and we're going to struggle to get a win! I'm not usually a pessimistic fan, but I can't see us keeping a clean sheet in any of the next 5 games, which means we've got to score at least 2 goals to win a game.

Let's say 7 points keeps us up; forget the Man City game and if we say Chelsea at home is 3 points, although that's not a gimmie. We then need to get 4 points from Everton, Sheff U or Burnley and I'm not convinced we're capable of doing that away from home. Our away form hasn't really improved under Nuno, apart from Newcastle. The only thing that gives me a bit of hope is that we've always been in games, but our inability to defend from set pieces is probably going to be our downfall.

Someone please convince me that we're going to stay up as I'm struggling to see how we can do it. I know that Luton aren't going to suddenly turn in to world beaters, but I've just got this feeling they're going to really go for it, whereas we're limping towards the finish line.

I think actually a shady accountant would be a better signing.

The amount if pelters we are getting from teams that spent the same or more than us is incredible.

These teams magically, sold a hotel, were allowed to exclude promotion bonuses, claimed incredible covid losses, sponsored their training grounds, sponsored their shirts, are not in any way "state owned" except for fully being state owned of course, were funded by the Saudi league, were funded by Chelsea, wrote off debts, increased debts, used interest of debts for "stadium spending", reported a profit despite spending over £100m more than the income that they received, borrowed against future TV money, haven't paid for players, have paid agents off the books, can't be punished by the EFL, can't be punished by the EPL or the EFL and the list goes on, possibly another 115 times!

Every team has gotten away with more than we have been punished for, its scandalous really. De Marco is damage limitation a dodgy accountant means you don't even face any questions in the first place.

Luton have taken 13 games to get their last 9 points, despite "having a go" and "being really brave". We have taken 10 games to get 9 points.

If they can get 9 then we can get 9. I have my doubts about either of us being capable in truth of getting more than 5 more points this season.

I do think we will get 2 back on appeal.

If you want my pessimistic but, in my view, realistic take:

I think we get four points from the remaining five. Four draws, and a loss against City. I think we'll lead at some point in all five as well, but you know the drill. We are simply not disciplined enough or aggressive enough in our defensive third to win games at this level, which is why we have only won twice since January. It's highly unlikely this changes at this late stage. Our only hope is Boly being fit and pumped full of spinach and weetabix.

Luton will win two of their last five games, losing the rest, with all six points being gained after 85 minutes. No one wants to admit it but we're deceiving ourselves if we don't think they're capable of that. It is absolutely within their gift.

We'll drop by one (Premier League's worst nightmare) and all hell will break loose. Marinakis will take the Premier League to court (you think I'm joking - I'm being deadly serious we all know he's brazen enough) and he'll have a legal swing for PGMOL too (which I'd love to see, about time someone called the bluff of those corrupt, unscrupulous bastards).

Happy Sunday!

LOL

Taking pessimism as far as it goes. Why would Super Luton fail to win two of those five games?

Anyone seriously believing that Luton will suddenly win three of their last five needs to give up posting for a while.

9 points seems generous.

The way I see it, Forest might only need 3 more points to stay up on goal difference.

This is if Luton lose both of their away games (probable) and then win one, draw one, and lose one from their remaining home games (plausible on form). I have them down to lose against Brentford, draw with Everton and beat Fulham on the last day.

This is before we consider potentially getting 2 points back on appeal.

It's not a doomsday scenario just yet pal.

I totally agree I think (and would like) Mr M to take the league and PGMOL to court should we be relegated.

Fortunately I am pint glass half full and think we can equal or better Luton. But I still want Mr M to take them to court.

Best way to beat a bully in the play ground? Roll up your sleeves and tawt them harder (then stamp on them when on the floor).

Perhaps, but we saw it last season that teams who suddenly have nothing to play for (Brghton, Arsenal) end up playing like they have nothing to play for.

Brentford, Wolves and Fulham have nothing to play for. Two of those games are at home. They might not win all of them, but they will almost certainly win at least one, if not two. Everton may also be safe by then if they beat us next week.

I don't think it's far fetched to think Luton could end up on 31 or 32 points, and I say that as someone who's been pretty vocal throughout the season suggesting they won't top 30.

Forest can't rely on only picking up three more points. It will not be enough, even with a point back from our FFP appeal. We win two though and we're more likely safe than not.

Our route to survival is:
1) Do not lose to Everton.
2) Beat Sheff Utd
3) Beat Burnley

If you don't want brown-trouser time final game of season then a win against Chelsea would probably mean we're already safe ahead of final game, presuming we've successfully completed first two tasks above.

Massive exaggeration to say Brentford have nothing to play for. Realistically they are, provided they pick up another win, so what better chance to cement it than against the team currently in 18th next weekend?

You can get 100/1 on Brentford to go down on Bet365 if you think that.

For Brentford to go down then:
1) Luton would need to win at least three games, and
2) Forest would need to win at least two games, and
3) Crystal Palace would need to take <2 points from their 7 remaining games, and
4) Everton would need to beat Brentford and Sheff Utd, having probably lost to Luton and Forest for 1 and 2 as above to come in.

They're safe. Their win over the weekend confirmed it.

Hmm. Didn’t say that. I said they will be motivated to finish the job against Luton next Saturday. And if they lose, they’ll be motivated to finish the job the week after. And so on.

Hopefully.

But they've still got Everton and Fulham up after to get something from if something truly wild happens that they get brought back into it.

I'm a bit concerned Brentford will play at 60%, aiming for the draw (to "finish the job") but end up losing late on.

Aye, Brentford are 1000/1 to lay on some betting exchanges too.

It's kind of what we did last season though; won three of our last six games (Brighton, Southampton and Arsenal).

Not saying that Luton are suddenly going to start winning games, but they're playing teams with nothing to really fight for in Wolves and Fulham.

I think we need 7 points from 4 games (not counting Man City) and I'm just not confident we're going to get that.

It’s going to the last game I reckon. Origi to score a late equaliser off his arse as a sub, before Murillo scores the winner in injury time from the halfway line. Pandemonium in the away end at Turf Moor.
I still think that Yates is going to score the goal that keeps us up. One of his shots has to go straight this season and that's the time for him to do it.

I fancy us against Everton
The closer it gets the less I do, but I said a few weeks back I thoughts we'd muddle some draws (we've done better, in that we won one) and then somehow get a result at Everton away.

Don't like the look of them at set pieces mind - If anywhere near fit enough (and Boly isnt), I'd be starting Felipe with Murillo. (No disrespect to Omobamidele intended, just think we need his leadership)
