Financial Fair Play (FFP)

I see this as the PL backtracking massively from their original stance where they looked to “punish “. They’re worried the impact of points reductions will lead to clubs not spending and the better players going to other leagues.
I’m now hopeful of a more favourable result on appeal to show consistency.

Misses the champ
(a) the fact that the Club has already been penalised in the Everton FY22 Proceedings for losses in years which overlap with the years at issue in these proceedings; (b) the loss of sponsorship revenue from USM Services Limited; and (c) the fact that Everton admitted its breach of the PSR at the first opportunity. We consider that (a) justifies a reduction to Everton’s penalty of two points, and (b) and (c) together justify a reduction of a further one point.

So rolling 3 years is gone then what a joke.

Lets Spend massive in the summer now and then just immediately admit it and take our 2-4 points.

Isn't it an independent committee that hands out the penalty. Different people , each time.
Explains why there's little consistency.

Premier League theme tune should be changed to the Benny Hill song.

We're going to get a couple of points back on appeal then, surely?

We have to.

Everton got points back for double jeopardy, effectively undermining the rolling three year concept, yet Forest breached to a combination of factors from previous seasons including lower allowable losses, lower COVID losses, promotion bonuses etc.

Everton also got a point back for revenue losses associated to war in Ukraine impacting on lost sponsorship opportunities, but if they weren't able to secure an alternative sponsor then it means the sponsorship they lost (from the owners fwiw) wasn't at actual market value. So Forest could argue last season we didn't sponsor ourselves because the rules suggest, but here the suggestion is that's acceptable - had we chosen to sponsor ourselves had we known that was allowable then we'd have a lower breach and maybe starting point would have been 3pts not 6. Also, Marinakis should have Capital Maritime sponsor the training ground, the stadium naming rights etc for whatever he sees fit next season.

It's frankly incomprehensible. This should can the whole thing, it's nonsense. Give all the points back to us and Everton, admit the whole thing isn't fit for purpose and then come up with a proper system that people can understand. It's an embarrassment to "the best league in the world".

They are more worried about points deductions being the difference between staying up and relegation. I see a massive shitstorm inbound should either us or Everton end up in the bottom three now.

They aren't arsed - they don't want to send Everton down and are ambivalent about it relegating us.

„The war in Ukraine“ didn’t impact on Everton‘s commercial sponsorship deals as much as sanctions against the Oligarch who was a major investor in them (and the companies he used to funnel money to Everton) did.

There was nothing to stop Everton going and negotiating commercial deals with other companies not connected to that oligarch.

You know, like pretty much every other club (apart perhaps from Manchester City) has to do.

It is clear, the PL were never going to push for a points deduction that would relegate Everton, or put them at risk of relegation.

That „grand old team“ are clearly an important marketing-exercise for the PL, one they don’t want to lose - imagine, no more Merseyside derbies for their key Asian demographic to enjoy on television.

Especially when they have a shiny new stadium to flash about on Sky Sports. Can't risk that dropping to the Champ, oh no.

I know the answer in here somewhere but can't be arsed to look.

When do we hear the result of our appeal?
