Went off injured yesterday, apparently. Bloody typical.

Depends if the requirement is to try and stop leaking piss-poor goals from set pieces any time soon.Surplus to requirements. Not an issue.

We just offered him a new contract!Surplus to requirements. Not an issue.
Another bonus of us building a side around unfashionable players like Yates tbf. Obviously if we can grab a great player who is an international we shouldn't let that stop us, but personally I loved it when the likes of Collymore, Stone, Woan and co kept getting overlooked regularly for Liverpool and Man U names, despite being far better or on far better form.I’m f***ing sick of international matches
and Aina as well - I heard. We just offered him a new contract!

Its the wrong thread - but if Collymore had signed for Man Utd instead of Liverpool's Spice boys and played under Fergie - he would have had 80 caps and 40 goalsAnother bonus of us building a side around unfashionable players like Yates tbf. Collymore 3 England Caps....Steve McManawank 37
Yep, Boly typical that.Went off injured yesterday, apparently. Bloody typical.
You can't really say one way or the other. I think Stan needed to be the big fish and I'm not sure how that would have sat with red nose or the players at the time. Its the wrong thread - but if Collymore had signed for Man Utd instead of Liverpool's Spice boys and played under Fergie - he would have had 80 caps and 40 goals
Yeah not everyone reacts in the same way, people like Collymore, Gazza, Cantona are / were totally unreadable really. All liable to self destruct, Ferguson may have got them settled down but it’s not a given. Shearer should have gone to play for him though and he’d be incredibly decorated. I suppose you can’t fault his wish to play for his home town club though. You can't really say one way or the other. People say the same about Gascoigne. But he was totally messed up in the head and Ferguson wouldn't have put up with the trouble he'd have caused.
People always want to draw a parallel to Cantona. But he was quite a cerebral personality who needed belief in him which is what he got.
Stan might not quite match Cantona for fishing analogies, but he is a fairly bright bloke (unlike Gazza). I reckon Ferguson with players like Keane, Bruce, Schmeichel and Irwin around him, would have mostly kept him in check. Obviously, he does suffer with depression and mental illness, but I think Ferguson would've at least been able to keep his Forest form for a little bit longer instead of the nosedive his career took about a year and a half into his Liverpool stint. I've heard Collymore talk about how Roy Evans was a lovely bloke but could not control that Liverpool dressing room, and they just took the piss. Whether Ferguson could and would have indulged those two personalities (Cantona & Collymore) at the same time I don't know, but at the very least he would have been playing with better players. However, I'm sure he would have been better off staying with Forest but once his head was turned that was it.You can't really say one way or the other. It's a good job Shearer didn't join that Man Utd team, up front with Cantona, I hate to think how many goals he would have scored. It would have been 40-50 a season and they probably would have won another title and another Champions League.Yeah not everyone reacts in the same way, people like Collymore, Gazza, Cantona are / were totally unreadable really.
