The NORMID store ruined a famous old ground.
Their new stadium is in the middle of nowhere and has taken the club out of the community-I
hope that never happens to Forest.
Someone made a good amount of money out of it though. Surrounded by the usual junk food outlets and ropey hotel accommodation. I had to stay there for two nights to deal with legals on a job we were doing, and the Government Depts solicitors were based in the office spaces at the Reebok. Really, the whole set up is an example of what we don't want!

As has been pointed out, there are numerous examples of clubs relocating relatively close to previous grounds, irrespective of whether or not the design is aesthetically acceptable, and whether or not Greggs and/or a Starbucks have opened outlets nearby.

Please be assured that I'm not in anyway offended mate, but I'm interested in knowing why you're so adamant that the Eastcroft/Cattle Market area is not a viable/suitable option compared with out-of-town?
And has anyone suggested that the Eastcroft site is not available for any reason? The fact that the Commissioners now in charge of the city council will want megabucks for it is a possibility for sure. Planning wise it would be fine, a focus on public transport and the fact that it is not in a residential area are the key factors.

It was going to be a ground share with County, that came from a PA to one of the owners at the time.
the ground share idea was for the Wilford Power Station site (now B and Q etc) and the deal was all but done until Forest backed off. In my view they acted wisely. If it had gone ahead we would have had a soulless outdated dump of a ground in the middle of a traffic jam at Clifton Bridge. Close call but we made the right call there.

The council has/is still running down its depot operation on the site, but I'm not aware of any intention to close down the incinerator.

Brian Clough stand still needs replacing not necessarily with extra capacity but with a concourse that’s more than 2 metres wide
All the concourses are below standard (and the UK standard is very low anyway). The WFCG needs major work to get it up to standard.

There’s truth here but Forest can’t think small anymore. Can you imagine the audacity of the club if we actually stay in the prem, or return to the prem? People would say ffs Forest why didn’t you act? It’s exactly the reason why Forest should build larger capacity. Years to come your kids will be supporting clubs they have any chance in watching, or worse manure of Scouse Nottingham has a large area youthful population, now’s the time to go for it. If Forest dont risk it we’ll be left behind
Exactly ... sadly that is there history of Forest. Two European cup wins, no training ground or even gym to speak of, one crap new stand, and a very large booze cabinet in the directors' box!

Prefer to stay on the same site if at all possible but we need to do far more than just replace the PT stand - both for quality of facilities and capacity.

I think everything except the Trent End needs demolishing and a total rebuild of 3 stands doing, with more concourse space, better facilities and boxes all the way round.
I agree.

Well, that‘s Barney the Dinosaur f**ked, then, if he ever fancies a job at Forest.

Complete with "international-standard" athletics track of course. Even taking that complete no-no into account, the primary reason for NFFC pulling-out was purely financial.

It's not beyond reason that the council could have possibly been persuaded to shelve the athletics track ambition, but there was no prospect of the funding issue being satisfactorily resolved for the three parties involved. Part of funding for the project was to come from the eventual sale of the CG and Meadow Lane sites, along with regeneration pay-outs from sources such as central government and the EU. The shortfall towards the final cost was to come from council reserves under the proviso for the clubs not having to front-up that an agreed percentage from every ticket sold when the stadium was up-and-running would be claimed by the council for a set number of years. Given the huge difference in attendances, that arrangement would have meant that Forest would have been making by far the biggest contribution. Derek Pavis refused to compromise and so Maurice Rowarth and Fred Reacher quite rightly walked away and the proposal was dead.

It suited Pavis that Brian Clough made his "over my dead body" objection to the project very public, whilst the Forest committee were content for Cloughie's ego to be massaged by not revealing the real reason.

I really hope the ground stays where it is. Iconic location and plus i used to live about 500m from the city ground. So it has that connection for me even though i live much further away now. Fix the BC and Main stand and be done with it.

But after the FFP fiasco from the club, other issues around the club and all the talk of the ground development. But nothing change. I'm not sure the management is being honest with us.

Is it true we don't have a permanent training facility? When i lived there, Wilford lane was in development and the club also used a indoor arena just down near the boots sports grounds. Spent a few times in there late at night drunk and kicking a ball. Never seemed to be locked.........i think:)

Most modern stadiums are like Derby, Reading, Bolton, Middlesbrough, Coventry, Brighton, etc.

We'll likely end up with something of similar ilk in terms of build and location. Forest won't be an exception to the rule, of that I am certain.

I don't think many businesses outside of pubs and fast food places really benefit that much from having a football club nearby, if truth be told. Either way, councils and non-football people don't really care for football clubs and prefer not to have them on their doorstep.

All of the West Bridgford restaurants, not just fast food, are rammed on match days. The supermarkets and cafes have loads of people in them. The car parks are full…the local economy must do really well from having Forest there.

What’s your view if we go down,Otis?
Will EM stick with Forest?
The only way EM makes his money back is with Forest in the EPL.

I am guessing but if he put us up for sale in the Summer as an EPL club - we must be worth £300m plus. Mike Ashley got nearly that for a poor Newcastle 2 years ago.
How much has he put in - he bought us for nothing - covered the debt - and has put in an average of £20m per for 8 years - let’s say £200m

Based on the above guesswork - he is well up on the deal now
