Ok fair enough, but one or both of them are wrong here, and more importantly the club itself have said nothing yet, so we haven’t been led to believe anything.
absolutely, it’s always a fine line on these details being reported in £ or € - if they are given a a snippet from an agent like ‘10m’ and they naturally apply € as it’s their default currency it reads rather differently to £

Hopefully someone like Orstein confirms who always seems to have an accurate view

Have we essentially lost Mangala due to the awful recruitment of goalkeepers in the summer?

Are we now going to have to spend the majority of the Mangala fee to try and grab somebody else’s number 2 keeper on deadline day to supplement our current selection of Vlach, Turner, Horvath, Hennessey and Shelvey?

That does seem to be about the size of it, yes.

Perhaps the club have had to decide on a player who is the most expendable/valuable to be sold, to have the spare cash to bring in a Goalkeeper who can actually keep goal, instead of the walking disaster that has been the combination of the two clowns used in the season so far.

Not really. Florian Plettenberg isn’t some random or sorry should I phrase that as no more random than Fab
Far more trustworthy than a lot of Sky Sports UK reporters. Has some real big connections within European football.

If swapping Mangala for a goalie is the difference between stating in the PL, and not, then, its a risk worth taking.

Florian is impeccably connected in German football, I can tell you that - if he reports something related to Germany, you can pretty much take it to the bank.

Ffs we need a keeper and if this gets us one and works for FFP and is a good profit then it’s not a bad deal. Is it?
It's not a huge profit (particularly when you factor in Stuttgart's sell on clause).

And that's *if* Lyon actually decide to take up the option.

As thing's stand, we are only guaranteed £8.5m, nothing more.

It's poor business and the club absolutely deserve criticism for it, IMO.

You'd hope that Nuno was asked which of his saleable assets he was prepared to lose. You look at who is getting you £20m and there aren't many. Danilo probably will be worth it one day but he's in Nuno's plans now. Dominguez and Yates aren't worth that much and Sangaré you'd have to take a loss on right now. Leaves Mangala as your only option.

Many thanks for all the answers to my first message.

When it comes to OL, this journo is the most reliable one (he has all the entries to the club):

The structure of the deal can look odd, but few factors account for it. First of all, we are not sure to stay in Ligue 1 next year hence no obligation to buy. Then, we are under close surveillance by the financial watchdog of French professional football, and we probably are not allowed to flush the €25m straight away, especially with other player incoming (Benrahma). And this summer, Southampton also got a big loan fee for Ćaleta-Car, but it was to cover the fact that they still handle most of the player's wages to avoid a rebuttal from the watchdog over payroll issues.

We are treading on thin ice and every transfer shows some creativity for the installments and the bonus and clauses.

Maybe, but in what condition and at what value?

Potentially better condition and potentially higher value if he does well, then gets picked for Belgium in the euros and does well there.

Value is less important in the summer as well as we'll have another £120m+ of revenue coming in potentially.

As another poster put, if this is the deal that allows us the money to bring in a keeper then we have to do it.

I read it in a few ways really.

Firstly the large loan fee means we don't have to pay a percentage of that bit to Stuttgart.

The option to buy is because Lyon have worries over relegation and from what our OL friend says they are also skirting on the edges of the French FFP rules.

I think there will be other add on clauses on top of that as well so the total may well be €35m in the end.

I think the discrepancy is that Orel will be due loyalty payments and possibly bonuses based on our league position and for all intents and purposes would prefer to cash these out now for a clean break but we would prefer to make payments on the 1st of July for obvious reasons.

Sad to see him go in truth but if Nuno is playing 2 cms then imho Dominguez, Sangare, Yates and Danilo are excellent options anyway.

Now it's £10m plus £20m guaranteed buy option? That's way better obviously, but who to believe?

So, guaranteed 30m over the next 6 months, possibly 33m?

Good business Forest.
