Red Dog in a Forest

After amortisation. That’s £22m profit.
Amazing business from our side.

And I doubt the, if he comes back without an injury, he's gonna want to bust a gut for the people who didn't want him here too.Alternatively he could go there and do poorly or pick up a bad injury, thus seeing his value plummet once his loan ends.
It's a massive gamble loaning out a valuable asset to another club without any guarantees. If it was a permanent deal or a Chris Wood-esque obligation it wouldn't be so bad. But just an option (which Lyon can choose not to take if they damage our asset) would be horrific business for us.
No, it isn‘t, as there is a sell-on clause due to VfB Stuttgart as part of the original deal to buy him. After amortisation. That’s £22m profit.
Crap deal confirmed:
I read that as the overall deal being a formality, rather than the option being triggered. It does say the buy option is considered a formality, so I guess they have to take a calculated gamble.
He could just as easily get injured for Forest, so I don't see how that's different.
Is it? Or is it a way of ensuring we see more money, whilst Stuttgart get a sell on?Crap deal confirmed:
Certainly the most consistent midfield performer this season, that’s for sure. What’s the point in that then? Only reason I’d resigned myself to seeing him go is because we were getting a fat wedge out of it.
Not only do we only get some of the money now, it’s not even that great of a deal for losing arguably our best central midfielder.
Now I’m confused - €10m with a potential €15m is a lot different to €35 plus €5.Crap deal confirmed:
By some random on twitterThat deal is a LOT shitter than we were led to believe
Not really. Florian Plettenberg isn’t some random or sorry should I phrase that as no more random than FabBy some random on twitter
I don’t think €10m for our best midfielder, when we are in a relegation dog fight, and getting him back when we could be in the championship is worth it personally. Which is why a higher fee was more palatable (regardless if you think it was unrealistic it was what was reported). It’s either a sale at €25m, which isn’t €35m, but lets be honest here, seems much more realistic. Or €10m and we get him back next season, which considering many don’t want to sell him at all, also seems ok. Especially if can get in a goalkeeper in the interim.
Ok fair enough, but one or both of them are wrong here, and more importantly the club itself have said nothing yet, so we haven’t been led to believe anything. Not really. Florian Plettenberg isn’t some random or sorry should I phrase that as no more random than Fab
