Need to make room for Yates in our midfield some how, people can say what they like about technicality but his first thought is always forwards and his energy sets the tempo for everyone around him

Mangala is neat and tidy and I can see why Cooper favoured him at home against Burnley but nothing beats the aggression and presence on the pitch that Yates has
For me there's an argument for both of them to play with Sangare against City and Gibbs-White to drop out. It probably won't matter either way, mind.

So you’re writing him off after 1 game? F*** me
Ok this is weird because I don't normally defend Omar.... saying he played badly tonight when he played as though he thought he had a right to the position does not mean we are writing him off. He just played shite tonight.... If he had stayed on for longer we would have lost the game.

I'd go as far to say we have a better chance of winning that game had Yates started.

Agree except about Joe and Sangare...

I think Cooper had to put more new guys in than he really wanted today. That did not help as we have another ''Players need to gel'' situation. We know what Joe can bring and he's great in a good defence but you can't expect him to do 2 people's job (thanks Montiel) because he's not quick enough and will be caught out trying and get unnecessary stick.

Montiel needs to realise the PL is a whole different ballgame and here he is not king of the pile (yet, I say optimistically).
Sangare came in before having a chance to really practice with the team so didn't look like his price tag (which would have been unfair to expect), however even so there were good things tonight which show he is going to be great for us :)
A happy CHO is a great asset, what a goal. Just shows what happens after a bit of Coopertime!!

I think a draw was a fair result and at least some new guys got much needed game time....

As most people on here say, our position and points after these games is already great and just think, we are only going to get better, how fantastic is that!

I understand it was Montiel that made Worrall go out but just like SAS training. You have to back up your mates mistakes. Worrall committed himself far far too easily. McKenna and Worrall just dont have the consistency. There is one game where yeah they look the dogs bollocks than its 2-3 of abjectness. If we want to be midtable they need to be more consistent than they are.

And a superb disguised pass near the end to send MGW on a dangerous run. Not MGW's best game, and he spoilt it with an overhit pass to Origi (I think). But Yates is more than just an honest battler.

Full-time thoughts

1. Whispers that Turner might be on the bench tonight but he continues his excellent form. His catching from crosses looked very assured, despite his slight frame.

2. Aina showed his versatility on both flanks and was certainly a cut above the rest of our defenders tonight.

3. A debut to forget for Montiel. I imagine you have to be pretty decent to have a World Cup medal so I'm sure he will be given more chances soon.

4. McKenna struggles in open games when he faces a long ball forward inside the fullback. We played a weak centre-back partnership tonight and I expect that we will sign 10 centre-backs in January.

5. MGW needs to be far more conistant. He's been a huge favourite of Cooper but he needs to deliver more quality, especially considering that he often goes extended periods without touching the ball. Wouldn't be surprised if his playing time is reduced once Cooper develops other options.

6. I felt a bit sorry for Taiwo tonight. Lots of attacking players on the pitch tonight but there was no killer pass for him to pounce on.

7. Very impressed how CHO managed to always find some space. Perhaps this was more to do with Burnley's set-up, however.

8. Sangare consistenly manages to mop up danger and will definately justify his price tag.

9. Some excitement, a few positives and lots of lessons this evening. We have to be happy with the first five games of the season and tonight we saw the grass shoots of Cooper's intent to play a more threatening game at home.
cho crossing is poor , elanga doesn't looked that great on the left , think you either play cho or elanga, not both , play 2 wingers and forest still looked lack of ideas.

Turner, Aina and CHO excellent tonight.

Montiel way off the pace so hope Serge is back soon, but not helped by having Worrall and McKenna next to him. Both give 100% and put their bodies on the line with blocks and last gasp tackles, but both always look like they're about to make a howler. Neither are quite up to the job and as a pair they are well short. Big mistake from Cooper not to play Niakhate.

As for the MF two, although Sangare will take a game or two to get up to speed, I thought we looked more progressive with the ball than in the past. Think it will get better as he settles in. Always miss Yates and need to get him in the 11, probably by losing an attacker and putting 3 in the middle.

You just seem to expect too much too early. Only my opinion of course.
This is our second season in the prem Brian. Than if you take Burnley into context theyve had 15+ signings and look far more cohesive than us after getting promoted. At some point we have to dominate one game at home. If we cant do it against Burnley or Sheff U than who are we going to?

Yates predominantly plays sideways and backwards. Can’t knock his energy or enthusiasm though.

Spot on. He wins a tackle. Roughs up an opponent. Suddenly the heads drop of the opponents and the Forest crowd are lifted.

He's brilliant at changing the dynamic of a game in whatever way possible.

Jesus Christ!!! We've blooded so many new players and got more on the bench - we played a very different game to how we used to regularly last season and what some people expect is beyond a joke - we're evolving with a team made up of 60-80% new players and experimenting with style and formation....

As I said earlier, you'd absolutely have taken 7 points from those five games. Doesn't mean drawing at home to a team which will be in and around the relegation places is a good result, though.

Aina was outstanding again. CHO looks another class. Another assist for Taiwo and even when off the pace a little Sangare showed some utter class. He's going to be one of the best ball winners in the league. Turner again showing he's a capable number 1.

We cannot play McKenna and Worrall together again (infact I don't want to see McKenna start again). Montiel looked like he's got his mind on off the field matters. MGW was atrocious.

We played a bit further up the pitch and looked better when in possession. Cooper has to get that defensive lineup sorted, if we get that platform right then we can really be dangerous.

Disappointed but also relieved with the result. If Montiel doesn't start I reckon we win comfortably. Barely remember Koleosho gettin mentioned aftet Montiel was subbed.
Still happy enough with the approach, Turner, Aine, and CHO all outstanding. I thought Sangaré was alright, once he adapts he will be EPIC

Poor performance tonight after a lively start, we dont look balanced with a 4-2-3-1.

We’ve got a good squad and have a good chance of a decent season but need to find the right balance. Yates should have started alongside Sangare and Mangala for me, give us much more protection at the back. Gibbs White has been poor all season, overated by a lot of forest fans for me, be happy to see him benched v City.

At the back, I dont think we can afford to keep solid defenders like Niakhate out the team for much longer. I think we missed Boly badly, hope hes back soon. Montiel had a very poor debut, but another solid game from Aina who was our motm.

And you have to ask why they end up having to make quite so many last gasp blocks and tackles.
