Willian (BUPA suggestion)

With signing on fee and bonuses etc will cost £15M over 2 years with no return. He’s a class player but if he picks up our injury curse that’s a big risk.

Be a shame to miss out on CHO at £10m, if Willian was the reason. Short-term fix.

Understand CHO might never be the same player, but feels there’s loads more upside in that deal.

Willian had a great season though, so would be a good signing.

Look at our forward options - Brennan is 22, MGW 23, Awoniyi 25, Mighten is 20. It looks like we aren’t holding on to Dennis, and Scarpa is still adjusting to the level.

Having Willian to provide experience and guile in the front line is a huge upgrade on Lingard, Ayew and Dennis and arguably offers something very different to CHO in terms of age profile. Also he’s been pretty durable up to now so he’s likely to be more available than the other three.

Willian + Borges + Sangare + Henderson + Sa + an LB would be a hugely successful transfers-in window, if we get all that done. Squad comfortably upgraded in every position, core group unaffected and all we need to do is ship the surplus players out to make it a roaring green tick.

The Athletic are saying a two-year deal with a salary over £100k a week, but the deal isn't close to being completed.

Age isn't the most important factor to me. As long as the ability is still there (which it clearly still was at Fulham), I think it will be a good signing. Plus, we will have plenty of time to get a more permanent replacement.

He is 35 just before the season starts. I'd prefer a one-year deal with the option to extend, but let's see what comes from it first. It doesn't sound like any of this is agreed yet.

like grabban and felipe , he seemed to be able to retain his fitness and mobility with age. If we can get someone like borges with willian , it will be fantastic. Willian technical abilities exceed johnson quite a bit so hopefully brennan can learn from him and improve further.

If it was my money I wouldn’t want to be paying a big money 2 year deal to a 35 year old.

One year max for me so if he becomes another Shelvey we’re not tied down longer than needed.

If we're going after freebies on £100k+ a week I don't understand why we wouldn't go for Lucas Moura instead.

Suppose Moura probably thinks he can get another couple of seasons playing in Europe at his age.
Doesn't seem to have anything concrete six weeks after his contract expired.

Would rather Daichi Kamada if we're throwing big money at a free-agent, versatile AM.

Would be great but imagine leaving Frankfurt he has greater ambitions
Heard Dijon were in the mix but he's got his heart set on Hamburg.

Fulham seem to be losing quite a few players at the minute, especially if Mitrovic follows him out the door.
