Brennan Price Johnson

DocForest

First Team Squad
Currently we'd only be selling Brennan to re-invest in the squad not for FFP reasons.
So him leaving would only come about if a top 6 club did come in with £80m and if Marinakis/Cooper think £200m is more appealing than a £120m transfer war chest. I get worried when I think about how important the next two transfer windows are

Just as a comparison, Dennis was the 25th highest scorer with 10 goals from 33 games as well as 6 assists for a team struggling even more last season.

Bloody hell, why are we even thinking of selling this guy at 10m or so. Surely there is a role for him in what should be an improved team this season.

Dennis? Did you not watch him this year? It's like his brain and his legs were being controlled by different people

If Antony was £80m and Gordon £60m then Brennan is worth at least £90m.
United might be looking for a new right winger themselves

You could always tell he was a wrong 'un. Antony. Same as Bruno Fernandes. Horrible auras about them.

But United fans love that. Let them carry on. I bet they'll have a petition to bring Mason Greenwood back soon enough.

Also. What self respecting woman in her right mind would go with Antony, if only for money?

The guy comes across like a creep. He has a face that looks like the moon, full of craters. The only thing good looking about him is his bank account.

Sad times.

My worry with Johnson is there is some sort of release clause that is lower than he could probably fetch now after a decent season.

Regarding Everton, Johnno Senior obviously believes in his son, has backed him in the past well before he showed his true quality. No way does he let him go to Everton even if they could afford it.

This is what I hope: DJ knows the score and will dissuade BJ from any rash move to a 'big club' to sit on the bench or be sent out on loan. Still less a move to losers like Everton!

I'm hoping he's part of our move to the sunlit uplands of midtable next season.

I think he’ll do another season at Forest then move to a genuine top 4 or certainly 6 club.

I wouldn't begrudge him a move to a top 6-7 club, particularly how instrumental he's been for us the past two seasons and I think if we're in the same league, they are the only ones to stump up the cash needed to sell him. I think £40m is probably the lowest reasonable figure for him right now which doesn't put him outside the bracket of other teams besides the top 6-7 but I don't think they have that amount of disposable income.

If we went down, then a West Ham or Everton would have been a lot more likely and the price would have been closer to £30m.

That said, it also depends how well he does for us this year.

BJ needs to keep developing - the best way to do that for now is with us. If he continues on the same trajectory next year, I expect next season will be his last for us, but the big clubs, which is where he's heading, will want to see him establish himself further in terms of output, become more effective without the ball and more consistently able to affect games, if they are to pay the price tag we will want.

I rate him so highly that I think he does all that next season, and I think he will probably outgrown us, as his progress will be faster than that of the club. I look forward to seeing how far he can go with us - I've learned over the years that you just have to enjoy what the top players bring while they are with you, and I love watching BJ in full flight.

When West Ham and Everton are negotiating terms for Dennis after getting knocked back on Brennan, we probably won't mention that.

Learn from the best Forest.

on the one hand Brennan is only going to get better each year and should be a shoe-in for 10+ goals a season if he starts regularly.
on the other i thought we were more balanced with Awoniyi, MGW and Danilo as our front three...

If we sold him and got, say, a Harvey Barnes and a backup reliable striker, I'm not sure we'd be worse off...

Controversial I know...
I agree with this.

Johnson is a fantastic prospect but no guarantee he becomes a star, and right now I think we looked significantly better with him on the bench. I think we will struggle to get him and MGW in the same team unless we are happy reverting to a back four and improve the CM with a true defensive beast

Anything above 50m and I think I would be tempted....

60m and I'd almost certainly sell.

This is just pure recency bias.

Brennan has carried us at times this season specifically when MGW wasn’t on form, we are trying to build a team not dismantle one.

If we sell our best players we need to be compensated accordingly. 60m does not go far in this league when you are looking at the next level of player.

I reckon MGW had such a good second half of the season is in some ways due to the fact teams had become aware how good Brennan was and we're shit scared of his pace having to double up on him leaving a little bit of freedom in the middle for MGW to weave his magic

Not to mention how well the pair have linked up, which improved over the course of the season and should continue to improve. I'd love to know what percentage of our goals feature Johnson and MGW as 2 of the last 3 players to touch the ball - obviously there are several where MGW assists and Brennan scores, but there are also several where they're the assist and the 'pre-assist' if you like. Off the top of my head, Surridge v Bournemouth, Wood v Man City, Danilo v Southampton.

That last one, the 4th against Southampton, I could watch on a loop all day. Those 3 youngsters, Danilo, MGW and Brennan, already seem to have quite an instinctive understanding which is perfectly on display in that goal. I reckon there are plenty more electrifying breakaway goals to come from those three next season.

I'd see it playing out much the same as the way the season ended - Brennan on the bench as impact sub option when we're playing the big teams and need numbers further back, but in alongside Taiwo, MGW and Danilo against the smaller teams.

Go on, watch it on a loop:
