I think that Spurs squad needs arms round their shoulders, not lunatics like Conte & Mourinho. This guy is from the Cooper style of talking about family and making yourself feel good.

I don’t buy into this Spurs are in a terrible position stuff, people said the same about Arsenal last season. They still have the second best player in the League.

Personally think Spurs need to move on from Kane. They base all their play through him and he's whilst he's an exceptional finisher I don't think he's actually that good in the build up.

Bit like Forest and Grabban last year, people panicked a bit because our goalscorer was out but our most complete performances and best runs of results came when it was BJ and Davis up top, the attacking unit felt a lot less forced.
Kane is a superb striker and his build up play is brilliant too. Problem is he can’t do both at the same time.

Spurs could potentially threaten the top-four, but their main problem is they are not run as a team built up for winning, they are run as a financial vehicle to make money, and to extort the highest possible return for any player who dares to ask to leave.

That, and in Daniel Levy, they have one of the most awkward, unpopular Chief Executives in football (but, that is of course his right).

They need a clearout and a rebuild. If Man U are willing to throw stupid money at them for Kane, it might actually be a good idea to use that income to rebuild and rebalance their squad, and to then make a top-four push.

Perhaps, but I think Spurs have relied on him for so long that there isn't a real plan for when he leaves though. I don't think the rest of their squad is good enough to compensate for his loss and is in need of a bit of an overhaul (unlikely to happen under Levy).

Can see them having as poor a season as what Chelsea have just had personally.

Depends what is meant by terrible position. Are they going to be scrapping at the bottom? Of course not. Are they going to get anywhere near the heights they were a few years ago under Pochettino? I highly doubt they will any time soon.

That club just feels a bit stale and lacking direction, with or without Kane. I think they really need a rebuild, but will any manager be given the time and resources to do it?

If spurs aren't playing the system Postie wants then its going to take time - the good thing is that he's been brought in at the right time - has a gap now before pre-season then time to meet and assess is current squad and still has the window open to get rid of those he doesn't want and bring in those he does. That's a good start but as ever it'll be about results and the patience of the fans and the owner.

People said the same about us the season we went up.

It only takes a good appointment, the squad is there - maybe they don't need a manager that keeps telling them their squad are weak and bottlers.

I don't think its just a squad mentality issue at Spurs though. Its a stale squad that has relied heavily on one player for too long. And as we know in the Premier League, you can't ever stand still or go backwards otherwise someone will most likely take your place.

Spurs decline couldn't come at a worse time, with Newcastle's rise this season. They've a lot of work to do just to become a top 6 side again now, let alone become part of the top 4 conversation.

I actually really rate Ange. I don’t think it’s a smart move for him however as Spurs as a club make zero sense.

It’ll be interesting to watch from afar anyway.

For a club who has their shit together, I reckon he'd be a really interesting appointment.

Unfortunately, Spurs do not have their shit together and is a tough job for anyone.

I agree.

But I think Kane forces that rebuild.

It's too easy for them at the moment to just buy an extra advanced midfielder or two and go "but we've got Kane so we'll be fine."

Not having him forces a complete re-think of what they want to be as a team.

I don't disagree. But the big question is are Spurs actually going to give a manager the time to rebuild (which realistically will take a few transfer windows) and the funds to do so? Or will they shit the bed if (or rather when) they are midtable at Christmas?

Ange could be decent if they give him the time and resources, but I am not convinced they will.

Four year contract isn't it? That's a decent length. (Though of course that doesn't protect him from the sack.)

Looks like MacAllister's move to Liverpool is happening, with the fee at £55m according to the BBC.

That's a good deal for both clubs, IMO. Brighton's model is so impressive - I wonder how many gems they'll find with this money.

Be interesting to see whether he actually is good or is he another player that just gets elevated by Brighton's system.

I must admit on paper he doesn't suit the way Klopp uses his midfielders.

I heard it was significantly less than that figure touted - nearer £40m.

He seems like a very consistent 'cog' in a machine sort of player to me. I'm not sure that will raise Liverpool a level alongside what they've already got.

It was £45 with Addons upto £55.

They're getting a superb player. Fierce, adept, good with the ball and without it.

He'll get coached into Liverpool's system.

The guy who is trying (and still in pole position) to buy Sheffield United:

Chris Kirchner mk2. You wonder how many of these gormy con men that actually get away with it.
It's frightening really isn't it that despite all the supposed systems and checks that people can make that a guy like this and Kirchner can get within 1000 miles of being a preferred bidder for a club or finance or anything - the idea that anyone with real wealth can be on the phone saying the equivalent of "the cheque's in the post" in this day and age is batshit crazy

Whenever I hear his name I think of the Cloughie story involving the other one wearing cowboy boots at the Novotel. Shame about his footwear choice - he'd have been incredible for us back then.
