Ooof! Thought the first hit in the nads was bad, but the second - ouch.
I guess Harry Maguire's got plenty of times on his hands, but he obviously needs to cut down on the pop :)

remember bigger nads are easier to get hit in too

Yatesy has presumably plenty

If Aurier is not ready to return I think Cooper should look at any and all realistic options to replace Williams. Colback, Toffolo. Heck, even Doris the tea lady would be a better shout imo. This lad's confidence is shot and it will only get worse with the pressure of the final games. Cooper may yet find a player in there but it won't happen until next season.

I'd play Colback at LB and Toff RB

Thought Williams was good today, probably our MOTM albeit a low bar to make that claim.

I think I agree. Though he and Danilo, for two young lads, showed they had the minerals for the fight. I’ve been critical of Neco because he’s not played well in a back four. In the position we signed him for in the first place he was much better and you can never fault his work rate

Djed Spence was a wing back. Neco Williams was bought to slot into his place. Williams actually impressed as much in that position last season.

Suddenly we're in a back 4. Not sure Djed Spence would have coped with it either.

While Neco played pretty well today, I don't think we can base our tactical decisions around his strengths and weaknesses. Which, when Aurier is out, leaves us a bit of a problem. Because when Neco is pushed back ten yards, his brain seems to go missing. Scouting should have identified this issue with him. Maybe they did? Who knows. He's at an age when fixing this is possible, but when you have a tiny coaching staff (I think we have the smallest coaching staff in the division), giving any player one on one training is far more difficult. I am starting to think this is, by far, the biggest issue with our club right now. Cooper is new to the level, and he should have surrounded himself with strong, experienced coaches. It's a bit late for that now though.

Yeah of course, Djed wouldn’t really make sense in a back four unless he was the bloody winger in front of the fullback.

I thought I heard that williams was okay from the fulham fans, they didn’t really seem sad to see him go to a rival promotion team.

not knocking him tho, of course he looks better as a wingback. that’s what he was brought here to be. not his fault we had to switch to a back four like i said before.

Agree. If we go down and play three at the back, Williams will have a spectacular season next year. because he'll do a lot of bombing on and not much defending.

Had a good game yesterday

Still don't think he's quite up to Premier League standard but he's not as bad as some people believe

Williams is a bit like a poorer version of his old team-mate, Trent Barton Buses (or whatever his name is) at the scousers.

Great as an attacking wing back, but sometimes a liability defensively.

Yes, and we don't have the luxury of VVD to stop in the middle when he screws up.

The footballer to whom you refer doesn't, in fact, have a surname.

He is - and I know this is true because I watch Sky Sports coverage - actually called "Trent" (or, properly "Trrent" with a double R in the mouths of all the meseyside-based pundits)

Yes, but even saying that, Williams doesn't have an ounce of TAA's passing ability. How on earth he cost £17m I will never know

Happy Birthday Neco (15 today apparently).

Hope he has had a fun-filled day (and plenty of hard training).

Actually he does have good passing ability.

The problem with Neco is that he doesn't seem to have the tactical application of his passing knowing when to do the right pass. But he can certainly do the task technically.

For all the opportunities especially earlier in the season when he was getting forward a lot and the cross/corner/pass simply didn't achieve anything because he'd picked the wrong option, not that he doesn't know how to cross a ball he just didn't do the right thing at the time.

It's quite frustrating really because he seems to have a good attitude, he's fit (don't think he's had any slight knocks even), strong, relatively quick, can tackle well, can play a ball, he can run, but knitting those basic blocks together into being a player on the tactical/mental side don't seem to be coming together yet. When he does he will probably become an elite player but he's some way off that now. In a sense it's more frustrating than watching a lad who you know is limited in terms of technical ability but you know they're doing the best with their ability - probably like the lad on the other side recently.
