He did have a good game, he looks one of those players that's playing at 100% just to be able to cope though.

In the summer I really hope Cooper works hard with him to improve his positioning & anticipation. He is actually really good at nicking the ball from players, if he is in a good position to start & aware of danger he will be a top defender. Still a kid - give him time.

Yep. Seems to operate on pure adrenaline and instinct where the brain is a passenger. The kid's a real fidget spinner.

I think it's fundamentally a positional awareness issue where a coupe of yards off can lead to panic. If Coops and the team can get his head right I think there's a real talent in there. Problem is, experience tells me that this type of young player is often the hardest to coach as the instinct acts as resistance to instruction and learning.

I think last night was his best game for a while, hopefully training and working alongside Aurier is helping him.

He got ripped in the first half, ball in behind him over and over again & got caught out (by a good player, mind).

I still feel like he is finding his position & when he finds it he will click like Cash did. There is lots to like about his game, will prove to be a good signing over his contract, I am sure of that.

He was dreadful in the first half.

Dug in second half but I’m still not a fan at all. He’s a nothing player for me, I can’t see what position he plays.

I’m just not sure where that is. He doesn’t do things well enough (or have the attributes) to suit any position. Maybe a division down or if he was just a youth player like perchy who could slot in in a few positions and give his all.

He was utterly garbage in the first half and was lucky not to get hooked off the pitch when Aurier came on.

Contributed to a solid defensive performance in second half but nowhere near MOTM. Only Wood less deserving.

Phew, I thought my cans of zywiec had frazzled my brain!

I thought he struggled in the first half but was very good in the second half.

Left exposed 2 on one regularly in the first half and suffered a horrendous 45 minutes as a result.

Aurier made a massive difference but he also benefitted from the change in shape and personnel that gave him more support than Williams had.

Williams himself had a great second half in an unfamiliar role.

He's young, he has time on his side and will hopefully get better.

I don't get why Neco spends most of his "defending" standing off the winger. He was doing it all the time to Gnonto first half and getting absolutely creamed every time because he was so far off the play he'd ran past him or let him cross the ball before he was close enough to do anything.

Either it's instruction (which I can't think because Aurier, Lodi and Toffolo don't do it) or it's just poor tactical play and he can't read the player's runs because he's either too central or ahead of them.

Plenty of times first half Danilo had to be dragged out of position to be a 2nd player and help Neco defend but Aurier managed fine by giving him much closer attention early doors (which wingers don't like) and we had a lot of work to do from that side first half.

This is why he looks more impressive when he has to dive 6 yards into a tackle when his bad positioning is the reason why he's had to do it already.

I dunno maybe he will ultimately look better further forwards but he doesn't really have much crossing or shooting end product either which he'll need to work on.

He reminds me a bit of Ollie Burke who would just run around a lot and influence things by coincidence rather than judgement.

Great player, just not suited for full back that is all.

This. I can see him making a career further up the pitch (and was decent when he did so today), but not convinced by him at full back.

Still young though, so plenty of time to improve.

Absolutely flabbergasted and a little concerned by people suggesting he was MOTM. He didn’t get hooked but we had to bring another right back on to deal with their winger and people think that is MOTM, Christ.

First half Leeds have 4 clean cut chances all from his side where he lost his man repeatedly. The only time he got in the way he cushioned a header straight to the attacker in the box. He was awful.

It was Blackpool all over again without Leeds being clinical.

He did a lot better in the second half but we didn’t spend 17m on a right back to have to put them left wing. Liverpool have had our pants down.
