This being Nottingham Forest's team, after so long being shit, is absolutely mind blowing. *henderson, Yates, O'Brien, Richards, Biancone, Johnson Awoniyi not shown!!!
My first thought after 10 mins against West Ham was 'wow so this is what good players look like in a red shirt'. The difference in quality was stark compared to what we've had over the years

Darren Fletcher said he 'thought' that's how Cooper would want to play when/if we got MGW, two 6s and two 8s behind a striker were his words iirc. Whether he's heard it right from the horse's mouth I dunno.
I think that was just his opinion

But I agree with it, it will allow us to pack the midfield better especially away from home. Wolves play that way.

Exactly one year ago today we lost 2-1 at home to Blackburn and Gabriel got sent off to cap off a crap night. I left the ground that night saying to my Dad we have by far the worst squad in the league. What a 12 months!
Pretty sure we did at that point, loans were still incoming at that point?

I think with the 5 sub rule now it play, it changes the dymanic of the game a little.

Expect clubs to be bringing subs on much earlier than previously and as part of the game plan rather than plan b if plan a isn't working.

That's what I thought, Cooper has been known to switch up formations mid match if its clearly not working. Maybe or hopefully that's his plan was always good when a manager knows it ain't working and trys to change it up

Going back to money, surely it’s simple and don’t see how other clubs (fans) are so confused.
Extra £100,000,000 which they’ve been enjoying for years in tv money. We’ve just spent it. Plus extra prize money and hopefully revenue from cup run as a premier team. These players keep us up and there’s the other £100 million tv money which we hopefully don’t have to spend all of. And that’s without EM cash injection or extra Prem revenue and global appeal.

100%.

I think the days are gone now of attackers playing 90 mins each game. Depending on how games are going I can see teams generally leaving defenders and having 4/5 new attacking players on the pitch.

Think of it like one day cricket where you have openers seeing off the swing of the new ball and not giving much away (hopefully) before your pinch-hitters come in later on to flay the ball to all parts. There'll be starters and finishers IMO.

With 5 subs it will probably end up being a fluid system where 16 players play significant minutes every game.

Spot on. The 5 sub rule changed the reality in that you're longer game is to compete at 100% for 90mins for 38 games..it requires extra investment and those clubs that have a less than top quality bench will find themselves at significant disadvantage.

Forest are ensuring they cover this, and lets face it we're competing with the bottom 10 clubs this season, half of which may not have the pockets Forest have. It's a perfect opportunity for Forest

Nor quite comparable; Haaland had a pre-agreed release-clause, which is what Manchester City triggered. The Norwegian was going to leave anyway, either for City, Real Madrid, or (less likely) PSG.

Forest have had to throw money at Wolfs to get a player that Wolfs didn‘t want to sell.

Pretty sure we covered why the Haalandcdeal was £60+ a few pages back. It was cheap at half the price because of how the previous deal was constructed but various other payments will be done outside of the release clause.
