Remo Marco Freuler + Trains thread

Master Yates

John Robertson
He looks a good player this bloke. Transfermarkt rates him at 20m euros.

Will be a good player for Yates to learn from as looking at some clips he looks a similar kind of player.

Good transfer.

Seen him live quite a few times and he goes about his business in a quiet fashion. Good eye for a pass, won’t trouble the stats chaps unduly but does that midfield work in a tidy fashion

I’m quietly excited about this.

Pleased with this one. Yates, LOB, mangala, Freuler, Colback is pretty good for two spots. Obviously you can never have enough quality but still; Some solid competition, different levels of experience, different skills, some niggly players, some height. You effin reds.

Pizza reminder

So from that we can say he passes it a lot but doesn't really make many assists, presses a fair bit but doesn't make many tackles, doesn't really shoot or head it?

Sounds like my playing career. I wonder if he does the same as I used to to avoid heading the ball after a big lump from the keeper. Purposely time your jump so you are coming down as the ball lands, thus getting beaten to the ball 🤣

€12m with bonuses included, coming over today to sign a 3 year deal:

Great stuff - can't say I've seen him play but his pedigree is excellent and, for once, looking at the Henshaw wheel thing I can see why we've signed him; looks to be similar to O'Brien but further developed (which will be good for O'Brien).

Fingers crossed there are no last minute hiccups, though articles read last night state the player has pushed for the move so all should be well.

I know nothing of him, but there are enough people saying this is a good signing that I'm hopeful.

FM attributes below. TLDR A hardworking, intelligent, all-rounder, but not strong or tall which is what I think we really need in there.

Provides some much needed experience and composure in midfield, not someone who's going to lift the roof off with his entertaimment value but a very solid addition overall

Is he like a poor man's Xhaka?
If we're comparing those two I'd say Xhaka is a poor man's Freuler...

Without having watched Atalanta and Freuler loads I can only make a comparison with the stats really and the closest comparison statisticstically is Hojbjerg at Spurs.

Hojbjerg:

Freuler:

Obviously one or two notable differences but it's a handy comparison as well with Spurs playing a similar formation to ours. Hojbjerg isn't what you'd call an exciting midfielder but does the fundamentals well and with a lot of consistency, think/hope Freuler will bring the same, Atalanta supporters don't seen too happy with it he's been a stalwart of their midfield through a successful period and also their captain so obviously brings plenty of experience.

He won't be coming here without some assurances on match time. Looks like exactly the type of player we need in the middle at this level. Experienced and good technically. Could be our Guimarães. Happy with this.

Cooper was pretty scathing about the way we looked after the ball against Newcastle so someone whose job it is to literally just get it and play it was probably right at the top of his wishlist.
