First Team Squad
Great summary Widdow and pretty much mirrors where I am at. It’s really about battling time at this point. Not long now until the season and as you say a fair few areas to resolve still.

Sounds like we have plenty of irons in the fire, just need to push on.

So far so good

PT 1:

- Told MGW keen to come to Forest but not a simple one, Lage wants to look at him (similar to Ten Hag and Garner).

- Midfield now the priority, Forest will move for O'Brien from Hudds. Believe a deal can be done.

- Do like the giant CM Onana from Lille, fee not necessarily a problem but other interest is, Forest will continue to monitor the situation.

- Forest motoring along with other targets, might not wait to see if Garner comes available.

- Villa do want £15m for Davies and Forest not pushing especially hard for them to slash the price (which they would need to do).

- Spence is going to Spurs, ship has sailed.

- Cooper had some reservations over Maitland-Niles, he's not a priority (on the longlist rather than the shortlist)

PT2:

- Cooper wants Grabbs to stay for his experience, aware it's a young dressing room, DT says he hasn't heard any Steve Cook type names linked though.

- Forest and Liverpool not a mile apart on Williams fee, Williams would be keen on the move, Marco Silva not sure about him playing in a back 4 which is why Fulham aren't going for him.

- Kabore trickier, City want £15m and that's too much.

- Has no idea if the Aribo interest is genuine.

- Biancone seen as a right sided CB. Forest do want 4 specialist Wing Backs, not players who can cover.

PT3:

- Wouldn't be surprised if the next through the door is O'Brien and or Toffolo (after Niakhate).

- No panic over Cooper contract, all broadly agreed, will be announced at some point.

- Samba's pay was in fact doubled when we went up, he seemed to decide that wasn't enough (there were/are other players on silly money Grabban, Taylor, Da Costa, Horvath all high earners). said certain footballers are thin skinned... Lens have been buttering him up for months, Dane and the Greeks aren't ones to butter a player up so that was that.

- Confirms Forest wanted Biancone last summer and have kept tabs on him ever since, says it might've seemed a quick deal but it's actually been a year in the making

- Somebody asked about O'Hare or Hamer from Cov, DT said not names he's heard but Forest not afraid to go for players from the Champ.

- Forest and Hudds have quite an amicable relationship behind the scenes.

- Thinks the starting back 3 will be Worrall, McKenna, Niakhate. Reason being the Prem is a hell of a lot faster than the Champ.

PT4:

- Would be amazed if Da Costa and Ioannou have any part to play next season, reiterates Forest's desire to sign two LWBs.

- No word on Grabban, says it's getting to the point where Forest need to set him a deadline if they haven't already, the offer to him will almost certainly be on reduced wages and he'll have offers from elsewhere.

- Forest haven't neglected midfield targets just happens that the defence has been sorted first.

- Sure Forest will break their record fee at least once more this window.

- Not heard whether Reidy will stay with the first team full time.

Thanks psycho for the ace summary; I do have the athletic but you saved me a lot of time and it's early!

Good summaries widdow, though I would disagree with you on niakhate and Grabban. For niakhate, while cook was brilliant and will still be very important next year, I don't think we'd sign one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga, and captain of the team, just to sit on the bench. On Grabban, I think it's up to him what he wants. If he still wants to play then he'll leave with our thanks but it is the time when players who have aspirations about management and coaching start to make their move and I think he has a lot to bring in that capacity, with surridge, Johnson and even awoniyi.

Otherwise pretty much spot on.

I have been out on the bike for a few hours.
We'd bought no one before I went out.
We've bought no one while I was out.
WTF is going on?
That recruitment team has 1 job... and apart from July, August and January, they don't even have the 1 job.
Not good enough for Nottingham Forest, if you ask me.

But youy probably won't... I'll just stand here for another 9 million years then.

They are not using the dartboard method any more. It takes a little bit longer these days cap'n.

Anyone else starting to get the feeling that trying to sign players off other British clubs is more hassle than it's worth? Over inflated fees, higher wages etc. Brighton have got the right idea, signed Maupay and Webster from the Championship for £40m 3 or 4 seasons ago, haven't signed another from a British side since and haven't spent as much as £20m on a single player since.

Brentford are another club that didn't buy from Premier League sides and did alright for themselves.

Every Premier League transfer (not just the ones we are linked with) turns into a lengthy saga and the numbers involved become ridiculous.

I think we are better off doing our business elsewhere.

I am already tiring of being linked to a player I think would be really good for us, then wincing a bit at the quoted price, then getting deflated when a number of more established PL clubs who we probably cannot compete with on a number of factors start showing interest in them too.

We also need to consider we are trying to buy players from direct competitors now.

I expect Wolves to be down there this season. Do they really want to be arming another potential relegation candidate with a key piece of their jigsaw?
