Like an F1 racing car, our expectations have gone from Championship zero to Premiership 180 mph in seconds.
Last season we would have all been over the moon at the thought of signing Toffo. Now there seem to be a veritable flock of sick parrot fans for whom signing Toffo is insufficiently ambitious.
Me, I just trust Murphy and Cooper to bring in players who will quickly gel with the rest of the squad, and who will adapt to Cooperman’s methods immediately.

Well said Cap.

There's gonna be a ton of plastics who have suddenly found their old Forest shirt at the back of the wardrobe now we've been promoted, and they'll be fueling this fire too.

Nothing wrong with ambition, but there's a big difference between being a Prem club and an established Prem club.

Not been much noise around left backs.

Hopefully one will suddenly be announced
I hear there's an experienced lad, international, extensive PL, Championship promotion and European league experience who is available on a free...

I was leaning toward Dennis Irwin but the "Championship promotion and European league experience" bit has put me off.

More clues, please.

Could it be that for our first premiership game we line up with more players from the beaten playoff team ( Toffolo,O’Brien ,Colwill(?) ) than our own team from that day?
BJ, McKenna and Worrall. Probably Yates too.

Also no way Colwill is brought in (which I don't think he will,) as a starter.

listen i know we’re addicted(more like tasked too) to signing young players but there has to be someone who’s mid to late 20s, even early 30’s, where they still have loads to offer and aren’t that expensive.

Agree. Nothing wrong with having more experience in the side. At the right fee, a late 20's to early 30's player could be even better than a younger one (just look at cook last season!

The problem is that the capable proven Premier League players in their late 20s/30s tend to stick with the established clubs or cost an absolute fortune. The only experienced players within our reach are most likely ones who can no longer compete at this level anymore.

My thoughts on the window and it's simply so far, so good. The owner, who said he doesn’t make Promises, broke that rule whilst picking up the Play off Trophy and declaring to the Nottingham Public (and in other interviews) he just didn’t want Forest to stay up, he wanted to win trophies and get into Europe. What that means then is heavy investment (guessing over £100m on fees and be prepared to pay the wages) it also means if it goes wrong, the players brought in, could benefit us in League below or keep value to sell. SO, the Recruitment is even more essential to get right and Marinkis must be prepared to back his manager (where is Coopers new contract?) and ready to break the bank.

Steve, Dane and the recruitment team, need to be applauded. Sticking to the plan, and arrivals look on paper (well the obligatory YouTube Videos) smart, flexible and quality additions to a squad being built for the Premier League. Lest not forget we have it all to do and come late to the party. We know we have a championship squad, and of course none of the teams in Premier league have lost the amount of first team than we have (Samba, Davies Lowe, Spence, Zinc, Grabben, Garner) that’s 7 places to fill, and I expect to see others depart like Horvath. clearly the starting 11 needs to be built and then the squad.

Looking at Keepers

Amazing to bring in Henderson, was that always the plan, or have our hands forced by Samba wanting out? Sad to read he felt let down by the club for not rewarding him for a great season with a pay rise. Think all fans agree he deserved to be better treated, and I am sure in Hendo, they are paying him significantly more than we offered Samba. Samba looks off now to Lens, and it could turn out to be for the best, and the £5m fee will be used to pay for the Man Utd loanee. We have lost Horvath to Luton on loan, wise move as not sure he could make the step up, but this means we need another keeper in, especially when you consider Henderson will not be able to play against his parent club (and of course fingers crossed he remains fit).

At moment we have Jordan Smith, who whilst being a good and likeable member of the squad, he is simply not good enough to be 3rd choice in EPL (remember he couldn’t even get in Mansfield team a few seasons back). We need a quality back up. Wayne Hennessey mentioned, but Burnley may be reluctant to let go after losing Pope, surely, they would want him to stay as first choice, and also same for the player, does he want to come to us to play second fiddle? Guess that goes down to how much we are prepared to pay a backup keeper. Then we need a 3rd Keeper – so work to be done.

As for Defenders

Biancone has arrived, yet you would think is a squad player (a great one) but for a RCB we currently have Worrall (needs to sign a new contract), yes, the French lad (who looks much older than 22)can also play RB, but we continue to look for a Spence replacement.

Looks like next one in is, Niakhaté, to me he is the same for the left side as Biancone is for the right. Mckenna is our current player of the year, are we expecting him to move into central position to replace the vastly experienced Cook?

What both players do add , is depth, flexibility, and most essentially much needed pace. They also probably offer more right now than other squad players like M’Soh and ad Panzo who’d both benefit from a loan away (preferably in the championship) again we could look to send Larreya out as well as he wants to play in World Cup and prove why we need him.

Obviously, we need first choice LWB and RWB, and currently Toffollo on the left and Neco Williams or Spence for the Right are the players the press are hyping up . Need to get them over the line. Shame we didn’t compete with Brentford for Hicky, as I believe he would’ve been an ideal signing alongside Toffollo.

Good to see building from the back and looking forward to seeing what happens.

Midfielders - needed badly

Now this is where we are crying out for quality additions, a few names mentioned, but nothing looks close. Yates is the main guy as things stand, and that’s no bad thing. Garner being assessed by Man Utd (and imho, I don’t think he is ready to play week in and out for them) Recently linked with O Brien, he would be great from Huddersfield, carries ball well, full of energy, I think he can make step up, £10m not too bad a fee.

Another player from the Championship and not break bank could be Coventry’s Hamer, solid DM, who gets forward, perfect for bench who could offer more as the season goes on. Rangers Aribo has been mentioned, and would be a welcome addition, but some how feel that we need a big unit in there, which could mean spending a big chunk of money.

For me Colback is a good option from bench, not good enough to start every game, he may have the experience, but he doesn’t have the quality.

We need a minimum of 3, even more if we let go of Cafu go and send a few others out on loan, for example Ojeda (really think he has potential) and Fornah (who may find his level is lower leagues)

Attacking Midfielders / wingers

Long linked to Morgan Gibbs White, Cooper knows him well from his England days and had him at Swansea so he knows what he is getting and if we do get him, it would be a coupe, and probably smash our recently broken transfer fee. Everton, Palace, Southampton are all now showing interest as time has dragged on our publicised chase, of course do Wolves really want to let him go? This needs to be resolved quickly.

Brentford look to have trumped us again by getting Lewis Potter from Hull, to me he would be absolutely ideal for us, and do on the left what Johnson does on the right and if he can, he would be worth well more than the £16m fee being talked about. Talking of Jonno, great to see him sign a new contract. IF we don’t get MGW, then need to get some more irons in the fire.

We could look to send out Konte and MIghten on loan and sell Silva. I would also get rid of Lolly, his legs look gone to me, and I don’t feel he can make the step up to EPL after struggling last season.

Finally upfront

Well, we have the replacement for Davies, and so excited to see what our (current) record signing Taiwo Awoniyi has to offer. We will miss Davies hold up play, but seems Villa simply priced him out of the move. Guess that could change as we get closer to the end of the window. Davies does suffer from injuries as well, but one to keep an eye on. Sam Surridge is great option from bench, and another young player who will continue to grow. I don’t want to see Grabben be given another contract, I feel we have looked a better team without him, but know he is respected, has experience and could offer something from bench, but wouldn’t he want to start?

Therefore, we need another striker, do we go for a target man, or someone quick, fast and proven (or do we look to get both), goals win games and also shows we mean business.

In conclusion, exciting times ahead COYR
