And Southgate will survive again, because he has world class players at his disposal.

He doesn't deserve the talent he has to pick from here.

The team is much more likeable than it was when Rooney was running the show, scowling and throwing tantrums, but they need a good manager.

Nico Schlotterbeck - the man with the most dubious barnet in German football (think, A Flock of Seagulls) was booked for the challenge on Kane.

Why were Bellingham & Southgate screaming for the game to be stopped, it wasn't a head injury the twat had stubbed his big toe

Because Bellingham stopped caring about school at the time they learned anatomy and thinks the head is in the foot.

Mount did nothing of note. Grealish immediately opens up a well drilled defense. I'm pretty sure I know who'll still be Southgate's 1st choice. It's definitely not an evidence based approach.

He has his favourites but this is an exciting generation of England players.

Stones has barely played this season for City. Maguire has struggled all season. Yet he picks them as his centre halves.

Kyle Walker is not someone I'd be relying on, especially when I look at his personal life.

Would I want that around the group, when he's supposed to be one of the older lads and wise heads?

Bring in Tomori. Guehi. And dare I say it, Worrall when he's showing it in the Premier League.

Pretty sure Southgate has only beaten 1 top 20 ranked team since he has been in charge and that was Germany at the Euros.

Like has been said he’s the luckiest manager ever. Sometimes it’s good to be lucky though.

He also seems more politician than football manager, he is constantly talking about other stuff - the focus is never on the football at England games.

Where's Franco to back Southgate while we all slag him off as he reaches another final.

He might just do that but I still don't think he's convincing in his position.

Just my opinion.
Yep, I agree - it's hard to shake the conviction that he's a poor manager tactically, incapable of reading and changing a game.

His strength is getting the players to perform in tournament environments. I feel his luck will probably run out in Qatar.

And they were shocking under Low at that time.

He was a dead man walking who had outstayed his welcome.

Yeah, as per my earlier post, Löw had outstayed his welcome and has somewhat tarnished his legacy, particularly in his dropping of players like Müller (still only 32, but irreplaceable at international and club level currently) and Hummels.

Flick came in, and immediately you could see a difference. His Germany - still a bit of a work in progress - are a decent side to watch, and he’s not afraid to throw young players into the side (see, Jamal Musiala) if he thinks they’re good enough.

It's all about mid-table...
Don't get me wrong I'm glad we snatched a draw.

I just don't understand nations competing in this Egg Cup right before the biggest tournament in the world :dunno:

Money??

Suppose they’re just using it for preparation, like friendlies.

Although, by the time of Qatar a lot of these players should be fresh and fit since it’s in the middle of the f***ing footballing season.

Southgate is just such a lucky manager; I suppose you could say it's about time we had a lucky bloke in charge or, even, you make your own luck.

But just look at our group in the World Cup, can you find a weaker group? He'll be lauded as so brilliant when we stagger out of that group and you can bet our potential opponents mess up their group and we get Andorra or someone equally bizarre.

Southgate has said Grealish needs to be better defensively to start games lol he’s a clown

He plays Mount due to him being better defensively than the alternatives, he has two holding midfielders in Rice and Phillips behind him, how much more defensive does the man want to go.

Add him playing walker ahead of the scouse right back the guy ain’t got a clue.

We do well in spite of him as we have a good side for once, but, he will keep his job as he doesn’t upset anyone and the FA have always liked a yes man.

If we appointed someone who has some tactical knowledge we would be flying, instead we have a clown who wants to be mates with the team.

For most of these players, playing for Southgate is like Bach trying to play the 'goldberg variations' on a Bontempi

Agree with most of this but I'd say Walker is the best defender in the squad.

Johnson starting for Wales & McKenna for Scotland

A bit of a piss take that no Nations League games are on TV apart from England games.
