Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

Samba's value is more than his not inconsiderable goalkeeping skillz.
He possesses that intangible presence we haven't had at number one since the immortal who has since become a Tory twat.
Sort it.

It's Horvath we must worry about - safe enough but he's American and doesn't wanna languish.

I may be completely wrong (wouldn’t be the first time) but why would Forest jump in with a huge offer? Of course we would start low compared to the figure we think Brice would want then work our way up?

Brice’s agent(s) shouldn’t jump to the press to moan imo, of course they want what’s best for their client but this isn’t the way to go.

You have to do business as planned and not overreact.

The club should make a point out of these negotiations. That he will pay good but sensible money. That's more important than keeping a player at this moment.

If you won't set a point here then you'll lose control of everything.

Samba was great and a cornerstone of this promotion. And if you show that you don't think of money then you will be bitten like hot cakes by the agents and the other teams.

Let the people there do their job.

As a long term devoted fan of my team there was one thing I learned after so many years.

Players come and go, the organisation and the process stays.

If he has to go, let it be. Get yourself another keeper. There are out there. You should blame the team not because of letting Samba or someone else to go but because of not replacing him properly.

Ps. I think he has another year in his contract. Is that right? So he has to bring on an offer to leave. It's not that easy.

Ps2. And I think he's gonna stay at the end

Has he singed yet?
It's the added interest in us now that we're in the Premier League, negotiations with players hitting a bump normally don't provoke any interest in the media - now we're fair game.

To be honest player negotiations often have similar complications, it's just that usually they aren't aired out all over social media. It does seem like someone (possibly Samba's agent) has pushed this story publicly to get this exact response to use as leverage in their negotiations

I'm still confident he'll be our #1 next season, he'll get a revised contract it's just a bit of a shame that it's had to be done this way

I agree in that this is just contract negotiations being done in public. Leaks that forest are after a new keeper and that Brice is on Lens radar are not coincidental or without purpose.

Pretty confident we'll meet in the middle somewhere, with bonuses for staying up and higher wage if we go down. I don't think he's the type to miss his chance to play in the premier league (and also going in the shop window).

He's good enough and we love him.

I'm not sure why anyone believes we could get Pope in with lower wage demands than Samba? Add to that an absolute minimum of £10M to sign Pope then it seems ludicrous not reward Samba.

We could easily get a keeper with better shot stopping than Samba in my opinion but I think wed struggle for one with better distribution. Honestly dont think there are many better keepers in the prem who have better distibution besides ederson obviously.

I think Pope is very good but is he the right fit?

Surely Samaba can be persuaded to stay by Cooper. Why wouldn’t he want to test himself in the Prem.
Give him what he wants!

That’s dangerous, where do you draw the line? Why don’t we give them all what they want, in that case?

In Dane we trust.

I'm one for the Cloughie tactic here. Offer what you think they are worth. If they don't like it, sell them.

Plenty more fish in the football sea. Two can play at bluffing.

If Samba has a better offer, then he'll not bother about our bluff. If he hasn't, then he's on the horns of a dilemma. And I don't think our CEO is going to be hung out to dry.

Would you mind repeating that please?

The thing is,VP-BC was at his peak before smart-arse agents appeared on the scene.
I recall Martin O’Neill once negotiated a pay cut whilst dealing directly with Cloughie!

It's quite difficult to form an opinion when we don't know what he's been offered. I'm actually quite shocked in all this. Samba loves it here and is loved by the fans. The club is ran phenomenally at the minute and all this feels a bit PVH/Championship Manager.

For me, Samba is the hardest replacement to find in that starting 11, he really is the complete GK. However, no player is bigger than the club and if he's after an extortionate amount and not being low-balled, then as gutting as it will be we'll have to move on.

As I said, I don't know which way to go without the figures...

Again I say no one player is bigger than the club, if we make him an offer he does not like let’s all wish him the best in his new venture and that is for any of the so called superstars

I’m taking this with a massive pinch of salt. If I were a betting man I’d put money on him having signed before we next kick a ball.

Might need some divine intervention to persuade him to come though. Don't think we have a prayer of getting him myself.
Neither do I, mate. There are other good keepers out there and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of the Samba situation

It's probably the first instance really of Premierleague Shenanigans and how we handle it, is probably going to determine not just our transfer business for incoming but also contract renewals for existing players.
Everyone is going to think that because we're not in the Premierleague, they are Premierleague players and deserve a Premierleague salary. Suddenly, 10k a week goes from a good wage to looking pretty paltry.

I appreciate every thing he's done for the club but if we offer x and he thinks x is unacceptable then it's all downhill from there.
If his demands are reasonable, then fair enough, pay the man but I think at the same time, we need to be looking at other options as well.

I'd be delighted with Pope and it would send a real statement IF we could get him but Burnley aren't going to be looking to do us any favours.

Does this count as a meltdown anyway. About time we had one, it's been too long since we had a proper one.
Bit concerning how much credence people are putting into an uncredited source published by people with a target for how much attention they can get.
