To be fair, I expect City beat us by 4 goals in both games regardless of who we sign.

If we managed to beat them 3-0 at their own gaff with a team including Nathan Tyson, Ian Breckin and Matt Thornhill there's always a chance

Daniel Sturridge has just been released by his club, we should get him in so he can play up front with Surridge and annoy the commentators

Shame he's shite

Not linked anywhere and only opinion.

Would like us to try and sign this chap on loan for a season.

Julian Alvarez, can't see he would play every week at City, with Haaland signing and they played without a striker for best part of 2 seasons.
Think we'd give him a good platform, and a whole season in Prem.

Think he's at River until Jan isn't he? I'd take him 100% but I think he'll still go straight into the first team squad at City when he's back, looks absolutely brilliant.

I think he is back this summer to join up with City. He perhaps isn't likely to be loaned out (unless Jesus stays) if he is however, would like to see him here. Maybe it's a pipe dream!

End of 1977 season.

Lloyd too slow, Clark too slow and too old, need a RB,McGovern too lightweight and slow,Robertson too slow to be a 1st Division winger.

I had all these conversations with various people.

Going to be an exciting window for once. With us basically needed a whole squad, needing at least 6/7 shipped out and having a bit of cash to do it as well as an owner who seems to want to jump balls deep into the Premier league.

Can see already that we're linked with every player going and I'm sure the agents will be like vultures circling the CG now. I just hope the recruitment is smart and I trust Cooper and Dane to do this. We've seen in recent years how a year or two in the Premier League isn't the chance to permanently dine at the top table we might be hoping it is. Ironically with all the riches it brings clubs can often come back down worse off than before. Look at Huddersfield, 2 years up there and last summer they were relying on loans and freebies like the rest of us plebs in the Championship. Same with Swansea who were down there years

None of the media outlets seem to have worked out what level we are aiming at yet. We’ve been linked with 20m+ players and also some rando foreign frees.

Latest one is some 32 year old bloke at Salernitana who flopped at Bristol City a few years ago.

Can’t see him being on Dane or Steve’s radar….

I think Gibbs-White and Rothwell are the only concrete ones so far.

And resigning the loans obviously.

I think Rothwell will happen and will probably be our first signing; lots of talk about him coming for a while before the playoffs (and was supposedly a target regardless of what league we were going to be in).

I reckon we'll get Davis and Zincs. Spence and Garner are a bit more difficult for obvious reasons. Personally I hope we don't bother with Lowe.

Gibbs-White will be a tricky one to pull off, due to the fees being banded about and the fact that there will probably be a lot of competition for his signature. Depends how much the club wants him and how big our budget is really (which is anyone's guess).

Dane and Coops play it close to the chest when it comes to signings. Other than MGW I don't think any of the players we're currently linked with will end up signing

MGW, Spence and Garner are in Englands U21 camp for the June qualifiers so won't be back at their parent clubs until July

Wouldn't expect much news until then

from what i have read of rothwell from the blackburn forum , he's more of s no.10 , likes to carry the ball forward but not the most consistent.

I think we'll get 10 players including the loans resigning.

Basically a new bench/odd starting player.

I think you're right. I'd also assume that a high percentage of the players we do bring in, we probably haven't heard of, or don't know a great deal about.

The pattern seems to be players Cooper knows from previous jobs including his England and Liverpool age group sides, and players on Murphy's List, hired because their attributes fit into our system.

I think all the deals last summer were done before we had Cooper, so they were probably Murphy's or Hughton's, Horvath definitely would be DM's, and who would have heard of him unless you follow the US team... Jan is probably a mix, Surridge played with SC at Swansea, he probably knew about KD from England sides (they'd have data if he didn't play them) but that's overall probably more DM, Laryea will be DM's, Panzo SC's, Ojeda probably a DM one, Cook probably DM... though you'd assume neither would allow a player to come in which they don't both want.

Generally not linked with us for a long time before signing, and generally players who we don't know about, seems to be the way.

Ultimately it's a sensible approach - Gibbs-White is likely to cost around 15-20m to bring in, yet he has little PL experience, and didn't completely destroy the CH like Mitrovic did and even Brennan in the 2nd half of the season did. How do we know for that money he's going to step up and make the difference? Proven PL players cost a lot more too. If we're trying to get cheap quality in then it has to be other markets and scouting on attributes because it costs less to bring in equivalent quality. If a similar player from Norway to MGW costs 2m then it's a fraction of the cost isn't it? And much more resale value if he works out. Brentford stuck to their model when going up, we are a similar setup, and will no doubt do the same.

If we're struggling near the bottom at Christmas it'll be because of the recruitment not Coops.
Blindingly obvious, this is our most important transfer window for years.
I trust Dane, Coops and Marinakis to sort it out though. Coops knows what's required and Dane will get it sorted as far as possible. We have to ride the huge wave of possitivity after the PO win and hope we can attract the right sort of players we need. Following Coops previous acquisitions I'm not expecting big names, just decent players and personalities who will do a job and fit in to the ethos we have now at TWFCG.
Whatever happens we have to stick together, Marinakis has to be patient and then see where we go.

A Bola in Portugal linking us with Alexander Bah, 24 year old Danish RWB from Slavia Prague, 6 goals and 10 assists in all comps this season.

One of those where a few clubs are linked and it sounds as though Benfica are really pushing for him:

spence is overpriced , this guy seemed more more decent defensively.

all our loans and buys in the summer had to be from dm , hughton would have wanted his old brighton cronies back in spite of their cripling high wages - knockaert , christie etc, januay transfers had more cooper input and that's the way it should be. Dane's eye for s player with his data analytics with the recruitment team we have with cooper's say.

My parents hadn't even met in 1977 but I'm gonna like your post anyway. Main reason; 9 months ago, these "not good enough for the Premier", were "not good enough to challenge in the Championship."

That’s not true though is it. Everyone knew we had individual talent it’s just we had a shocking manager in charge.

Maybe the only player who played consistently for us that you could say it for is Yates.

always amused by the press with the “ Forest targeting/linked with..”
our recruitment team and manager will have been working on this for months and aren’t to drop names by accident over a pint in the Fox&Duck
